The Other Side Of The Story About StuartD And How He Fucked His Old Company
 

Well Stewie since I see you cashed the cheque I sent you last week I just bought myself a ticket to tell all of GFY what happened and how you fucked us.

Long story condensed into a short one

Hired StuartD to help us finish our GTS backend system that has been a work in progress for oooooh say 2-3 years now. (don't ask LOL!) I was very happy to get Stuart on board because I had known him when I lived out in Vancouver and I thought he was a great guy. Stuart was paid salary plus benefits and at first was a very good employee... He worked under another manager at the time and I overlooked his duties from time to time... I noticed that he was ALWAYS on GFY and I don't mean always like when you check your hotmail at work 5-6 time a day. I mean ALWAYS on GFY, he was posting all the time and this was SERIOUSLY affecting his work. So not to rock the boat to much I asked his direct manager to speak with him and ask him not to post so much as it was affecting his work. Well he took it as a direct shot at him and instead of posting less or not at all, he posted more and removed our signature LOL! So anyways I had other pressing issues to deal with so I just kind of let by gones be by gones (my mistake) and move on.

We started having serious issues with Stewie's work after this manager left, Stewie missed deadline after deadline and this project he had been working on for months and months and month looked like it would never be done. Stuart ended up needing surgery for a back problem and needed to take a month off work, now instead of us saying to him well we're not going to pay you for that month off go collect unemployment. We said NOPE we will pay you for the month that you are off full salary plus benefits.... Stuart said he would work from home when he was well enough and try to get more progress done. A month goes by and no Stewie back, deadline after deadline gets missed again... Finally when he finally agrees to come back to work he sends me a very informal e-mail saying he's quitting and going to work for ATK. So in reality he spent the month off that we were paying him looking for another job... So anyways I didn't blow up, I felt very fucked over as I thought he used the fuck out of us. I even posted a nice thread up to him wishing him the best of luck...

Stuart said he would finish the backend system we needed in his part time because he KNOWS he left us in the lurch. I agreed to pay him as a contractor for the time being and he billed us for 59 hours of work. Deadline after deadline got missed again and finally he gave us a demo of the system that was say 95-99% done. It was a DISASTER! It had multiple MAJOR issues with duplicating entries and it was just a mess.... He said he could not fix the issues and would have to start from scratch.... I fucking freaked out!! The whole yeah i paid this guy's salary plus benefits plus rrsp contributions and then after he left me in the lurch by quitting when the project was 99% done he billed me another 59 hours and then told me he would need to start from scratch LMAO!!!!

What the fuck would you do in this situation??!!!!

I told Stuart I would not pay him until I got a working system and that this was absolute bullshit. I ALWAYS said I would pay him but for christs sake this was absolutely ridiculous. He then threatened me and said he would sell my 99% finished backend system to another competitor if I didn't pay him and I then cooresponded saying my legal would be in touch and i would sue the fucking shit out of him if he went that route.

Then very shortly Aaron M and all the rest of Stuart's friends jumped on my back and called me a deadbeat for not paying Stuart. They OBVIOUSLY have no idea what happened because they only got one side of Stuart's story...

So here we are, under massive pressure I paid Stuart D against my better judgement and I still don't have a working system. However he continues to take pot shots at me whenever he can (ie. take a look at the machine gun kelly thread).

Anyways that is my side of the story folks...

P.S. I won't be able to respond until tonite as I will be visiting my wife in the hospital. But I am sure when I get back there will be 2-3 pages waiting for me LOL!

I, too, have found out the hardway that just because someone seems like "a great guy", it doesn't mean they are a good employee or business partner. One of the last people I hired on contract based on "friendship" fucked me so hard and so deep, no lube, no reacharound, and then tried to send me a fat fxcking bill for a project that was half complete, 3 months late, and completely unusable. I then hired someone from Belarus and it was finished in 3 days.

I used to love how closeknit this industry was, but constantly seeing people you know and like battle publicly OR in private for that matter, I've just come to hate it.

ouch!! Sorry to hear about that Mark. It really makes you think twice about people that you think you know and how far you should let people take you for a ride.

Grow up and leave it all be Mark. You're not coming out looking like the good guy in ANY of this.

I smell bullshit! I don't know the originator of this thread, but I know Stu, and I really don't believe he would do something like this. We're talking about a guy that goes above and beyond for people even when he's not obligated to do so.

StuartD having AaronM post threats for you on your behalf isnt going to fool anyone...you spoke out more against him then he has against you.

this is a very very small industry....Mark can always hire new employees, but both MGK and StuartD have a limited pool of people to get contracts from...think about that.

Also...you all know his wife is in the hospital now and was in critical care...and you choose that moment to go on a full out attack against him?
That to me is the lowest of low.
You think he is in the proper state of mind right now? How would any of you feel if your wife was in the hospital for something, and it was bad enough they are thinking of flying her to toronto? Id take it very personally as im sure he is.

I will say that Stuart never did go looking for a job Mark, Gunner came to me asking me If i knew any good Programmers and I said The best one I know is StuartD, well gunner asked me to ask him if he was interested and made him an offer and I relayed the info to Stuart, at that point him and Gunner started talking, But i know for a fact that the month off work that Stuart had, he was not out looking for a job.
