I'm far from being a gun lover but of course weapons are necessary. Human beings are fucked up animals -- you have to be able to protect yourself, this is especially true of those who are physically frail [physical disabilities, or just plain weak]. I support those who wish to own rifles and shotguns for personal use as well as protection. I do not and cannot support those who wish to own handguns. A handgun will never be anything more than a tool to cause harm with.

When will people ever stop blaming weapons for our screwed up world. Guns arent the problem, mental instability is the problem, greed is the problem, the Human Machine is the problem, Human weakness is the problem.

How can you blame an inanimate object that not only has no prejudice but also can not function on its own. Surprise surprise it takes a Human for it to work and it is the Human that decides how the gun will be used, for good or ill. THAT, is the problem of ANY type of weapon. Everyone has knives in there home, those are potential weapons, should we bannish all those?

Should we make ourselves so defensless that our goverment or another country can round us up like cattle and force us to live their way, irradicate freedom? A government or invading country cant be kept in check when there is no threat from it's people or opposition. Because if push came to shove and a law like this WAS introduced the only people to lose their rights and freedom would be the little people, the majority of citizens. What then? The powerfull will have that much easier a time of crushing any would be resistance or opposition of ANY kind.

You cant solve the worlds problems by taking away weapons, it wont work. We can only solve the worlds problems when we can teach the people of the world to THINK differently, to value peace, to irradicagte greed, to lay down predjudice, to release ego, and take responsibilty for our lives. This

do you know that 70% of this world manage to do great without weapons?... the rate crime is way lower in Europe and Asia, where it's illegal to own weapons without special permit.

Please... That percentage is a pretty conservative one at best. Those countries, most but not all, have their citizens smashed under their thumb of control. They will be the quickest to fall in any form of civil movement or invaded by opposing countries and have zero chance of defending themselves in time of crisis (majority of citizens). Alot of your "70% of this world" was or is a Communist state or of like minded government. So I hardly see how you can count THAT as a good instance of what no weapons will do for you.

Without weapons how do you kill the animals to eat them? Or are you advocating a full vegitarian eatign regime also? In which case, without weapons, how do keep the big furry animals from eating you? (And yes, I know that right now, in the modern world, there is little chance of being eaten by a bear, but that is because someone killed most of them. You know what they killed them with? Weapons)

Damn near anything that can be picked up can be used as a weapon. As long as there are people that are bigger than me, who can pick up a weapon that is bigger than the one I can pick up, I will keep my guns thank you.

hunting is something different btw, although i'm not into it i know that it exists, fulfills certain purposes and i can live with it. but at least over here you have to get a license (which takes a couple of months) before you can start hunting and buy a weapon for that.
