lossing circulation to arm while sleeping?

Anyone ever experience? this has happened to me like 9 out of the last 10 nights where I wake up 10 times during the night with my hand completely numb. I wake up, stretch out my arm and after about 20 seconds circulation goes back in and its fine. I fall back asleep only to wake up an hour later with the same thing.

Is this something I should go see a doctor about or what? It used to happen from time to time but now is happening almost every night. No recent lifestyle changes other then i started going to the gym again.

Could be the position you are sleeping in, I know I fall asleep on my arm under my pillow and wake up with a dead arm almost every morning. Hasn't had any negative effnuabnbziects on me at all. :1orglaugh

k0nr4d 04-03-2007 09:42 AM

Naw, its not position. Thats what i thought at first too but it seems to be every time i sleep with my arm bent at the elbow.

Evil1 04-03-2007 09:43 AM

it's the position you are in.. hell , i try to get it to happen... it's kinda cool

k0nr4d 04-03-2007 09:47 AM

After reading more, could it be carpal tunnel?

Hmm, if you're overweight the excess pressure caused by fat and the position of your arm could cut off the circulation in your arm. Lack of exercise could also contribute yada yada.

k0nr4d 04-03-2007 09:50 AM

Well, i'm 250lbs 6'4 but pretty built. I could maybe stand to lose about 10lbs but thats about it for fat on me...

Vendot 04-03-2007 09:55 AM

i doubt its anything serious......

ive had that happen to me lots of times in a row but then it stopped happening for some reason.

if youre worried about something more serious, drink lots of mineral water to dilute the shit out of whatever it is and then go see a doc

sumphatpimp 04-03-2007 10:00 AM

could be your heart or circulatory system.
you are probably going to die.
can I have your stuff?
you won't need it.

k0nr4d 04-03-2007 10:08 AM

denied. my websites and stuff are getting buried with me.

LilBro 04-03-2007 10:39 AM

does it happen during the day ever at all???

since you workout, i had 3 years ago bursitis in my left shoulder and would get symptoms of what u describe....had to take a few weeks of from lifting and anti-inflammatories as well....went away

flashfreak 04-03-2007 10:57 AM

my wife has problems with her fingers... she barely feels them when she awakes.
I suppose this is a peripheral circualation problem caused by anemia - red blood cells deficiency. She will go to a doctor these days to confirm it.

Most common cause is iron deficiency - so you better eat more meat, especially red one (beef) and liver (chicken / pork).

k0nr4d 04-03-2007 11:01 AM

It never happens during the day.
I eat lots of chicken and pork but never beef, I get very sick from it.

Pleasurepays 04-03-2007 11:01 AM

are you doing a cycle?

kristin 04-03-2007 11:02 AM

My fingers and arm have begun to start going numb randomly throughout the day. I have a nerve test to rule out carpal tunnel, but I find myself in the same situation as you and wake up a lot with my armed completely cramped.

Nope, but took like 3 months off working out and started about 3 weeks ago again.

k0nr4d 04-03-2007 11:04 AM

This actually also happened once where my shoulder went numb but not the rest of my arm.

Alex 04-03-2007 11:04 AM

If it isnt position then go get it checked out.

k0nr4d 04-03-2007 11:07 AM

i'm going to try sleeping on my couch tonight to see if its the bed maybe, and if i still wake up numb ill make doctor appointment tomorrow.

porno jew 04-03-2007 11:08 AM

probably had a mini-stroke.

donkevlar 04-03-2007 11:21 AM

Every once in a while i'll wake up with my whole arm completely numb from the shoulder down.

This is definitely from sleeping in a strange position on it though.

I'll be getting up to piss and i'll literally have to carry one arm with the other.

and always, always.

Jerk yourself off with the numb hand.. it feels like someone else ;)

Furious_Female 04-03-2007 11:30 AM

Sounds like carpal tunnel symptoms to me. I have carpal tunnel and I often wake up with numb arms/hands.

You should get a check up anyway and make sure your doc doesn't think it's anything more than something simple like that.

beemk 04-03-2007 11:58 AM

its caused by gay anal sex

amandaspost 04-03-2007 01:13 PM

Never had that happen, but sometimes when I sleep I get horrible cramping pain in my leg and shoots down to my toes.

Anna_Miller 04-03-2007 01:41 PM

That used to happen to me when I was pregnant. Are you sure you aren't preggers? :1orglaugh
Seriously though could be the position you are in - nerves are getting pinched.

shekinah 04-03-2007 01:49 PM

That happens to me most of the time whenever I sleep with my arm under my pillow, I know there's no negative effects but still it hurts.. I felt like losing my arm every time it happens:(

flashfreak 04-03-2007 02:18 PM

it can be from too much monkey spanking too.. :D

sniperwolf 04-03-2007 05:46 PM

if that shit happens to you most of the time i think you should go to the doctor...that's not normal mate...it's better to be sure what that was..

PersianKitty 04-03-2007 05:49 PM

Early carpal tunnel. It happens if your hand is bent downward (against the wrist) for any length of time. I wake up with a hand asleep about twice a week. Doc told me if it bugged me enough to sleep with a wrist brace on.

That's a little extreme but go see a doctor just in case...

JDog 04-03-2007 05:57 PM

I tend to get that too. Sometimes if I sleep really restless and end up on my side for a while (at least I think it's when I get restless sleep). Sucks tho.

tical 04-03-2007 06:04 PM

lay off the growth hormone :)

could be something like water retention in your hands & joints... try cutting down on the sodium for a week n see if that helps

LittleSassy 04-03-2007 06:45 PM

mmm...maybe you should go see a doctor. Least he'll advise on what's best for you and what could've caused it

UniversalPass Pete 04-03-2007 07:24 PM

I am getting the same thing! Do you lift weights? that could be part of the problem! Also try sleeping without a pillow!

It's funny I never had this happen before, but I have been going through the same thing the last 2 months or so??:2 cents:

Also! I get it in both arms!

rowan 04-03-2007 08:09 PM

I sometimes wake up with one of my arms over my head, and completely numb... it's surreal hauling what is effectively a heavy bit of "dead" meat back under the covers. :1orglaugh

i've went though this... but only when doing a cycle and putting on a lot of mass very quickly. i couldn't sleep because my arms were continually falling asleep and waking me up. often it would happen if i just rested my arm against something.. or even if the side of my forearm was barely touching something. sounds very much like some kind of circulatory issue (obviously) i think you are right to talk to a doctor about it if you are not reasonably sure of the cause.

247Support_Ant 04-03-2007 08:23 PM

3 words

Ulnar nerver entrapment. Google it. Your Ulnar nerver is actually your funny bone. You know when you hit it how it feels. When you sleep with your elbow bent it swells up a bit and you get the numbing feeling.

Position is the right answer from the others, but it is kinda hard to control when you sleep. Try popping an asprin or anti inflammatory before you sleep.

Good Luck. :2 cents:
