I'm going down for the last time

This industry has been good to me, and I'm not asking anyone to do anything they don't want to. I'm in serious trouble due to my medical bills.

Yes, I live in Canada; I came on a temporary resident permit. I never upgraded to permanent residency because, from the symptoms I've had, I thought I had the beginnings of diabetes, which could disqualify me for permanent residency as a "burden on the healthcare system". As some of you know, the problem turned out to be not diabetes, but high blood pressure and kidney failure. Additionally, I've been going blind for a couple of months now.

I'm not entitled to free medical care, and I'm not complaining about that. It's just that I don't have the money to pay my bills anymore. My blood pressure is getting under control but my vision is continuing to get worse; I don't know how much longer I'll be able to work or drive at all. I have an appointment with an opthalmologist in March (long waiting lists).

I've spent our grocery money on doctor visits and medicine, our rent money on groceries, and have nothing to cover the rent; I have a prescription to fill and nothing to cover it with.

As some people will be quick to point out, I've been down and out before:
http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...t=losing+house

This time I may not be getting back up again.

When I realized where I'm headed I started building http://www.paytheferryman.com

Ad space is available by donation, starting at the bottom; because it will probably be viewed by people of all ages I can't allow any adult ads to be placed.. which puts me in a pickle since I don't know anyone in mainstream.I don't really expect the top ad spaces to sell as single units; I'm hoping to sell them off in pieces (a la million-dollar-you-know-what)

Links or link trades from your mainstream sites would be much appreciated. When and if I become unable to see well enough to maintain the site, I'll ask my wife to take over.

My ICQ is 47958624 if you have any questions or suggestions.

TurboAngel 01-31-2007 05:53 PM

I hope things turn around for you hun.

Spunky 01-31-2007 05:55 PM

Good luck man..hopefully things turn around soon

Dagwolf 01-31-2007 06:00 PM

I'm not going down without a fight. :thumbsup

crappy ...

Scott McD 01-31-2007 06:09 PM

Damn man, that sucks.

Hopefully things pick up for you... :(

BoyAlley 01-31-2007 06:16 PM

At first I was going to call possible BS on the whole going blind thing. Then I took at look at that website you made.

It does, indeed, look like it was designed by someone going blind.

Still, first asking for donations because of no work permit, now because of medical bills, etc. etc. Personally, it all sounds kind of tired. You obviously need to devise some sort of long-term solutions for your financial stability, as asking for donations over and over again isn't an effective one.

All the best and I hope you gain control of both your health and finances............

No kidding! I'll be selling pencils soon enough. That should be nice and stable.

You don't strike me as a mean-spirited guy... but put yourself in my situation and try thinking your way out of it.

Ok, I took a closer look at your "please help me and make a donation" site.

How in the hell much money are you hoping to raise?!?!?!?!?!?! You're basically hoping to get enough "donations" to make sure you're set for life? Sorry to sound unsympathetic, but this is absolutely ridiculous, and I think speaks volumes:

At least here in the US, all of those services are free. You'd also be eligible for disability benefits here in the US. Not sure what services Canada has, but I'd assume they're similar.

Trying to move forward by hoping people will give you $1 million is asinine.

I agree. How old are you Dagwolf? 41? c'mon. They need to ban these fucking donation threads or ban the people Soliciting people for money. If you can't cut it in adult, get out and get a real job.

By donating money, you're just hurting these people more than you're helping them.

jimthefiend 01-31-2007 06:29 PM

Gfy is gonna hit #1 on Google for the term "lazy ass mooching dipshits" pretty soon.

Well if that's the case, then he continues to make a series of life choices that are putting him in these types of situations over and over again. Perhaps he should start there.

Many people find themselves in difficult situations through no fault of their own, but many many more find themselves in difficult situations due to bad decisions that they continue making........

split_joel 01-31-2007 06:36 PM

I'll most likely be off your board and out of your industry soon enough, don't worry. See thread title.

Well if this is the best way you've managed to come up with to "earn" money in your life, best of luck to you and your "dependants".

Who am I to hinder someone else's "business ventures". I'll leave you and this thread alone........

how is going to be on the street and blind going to help him make the correct "life choices?" what "life choice" will he have at that point? whether he eats some stale fries or rotten hamburger from the dumpster?

i guess you can't expect sympathy from such a pampered priss, but come on ...

You know Dagwood here isn't exactly one of my favorite people but I'm finding myself agreeing with others and wishing that Boyalley would just shut the fuck up.

Dagwolf 01-31-2007 06:48 PM

Honestly, I think BoyAlley is a kind person with trust issues. He's done a lot for charity; he just doesn't believe in putting money directly into the hands of beggars.

By the way, I'm not really illegal. I just haven't renewed my permit yet.
:Oh crap

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-31-2007 07:37 PM

Okay, looking at your earlier thread I see that back in 2002 you were alredy living in Canada, and you're still a temporary resident after something like five years?!? Wow...

So post up your most recent doctor visit paperwork (or other documentation) to provide some shred of credibility for the case you are pleading.

I didn't read all of your other threads, but can't your wife legally work in Canada? As I understand it, if she was Canadian, it would not be difficult for you to become a citizen. This begs the questions then, that she is also not a Canadian citizen, which makes me wonder why you and your wife are in Canada in the first place?

Also, if any of your children were born in Canada, I assume that makes them Canadian citizens, maybe a loophole there could help you.

I'm sure people might be more forethecoming with support if you could provide any sort of actual evidence of your plight, especially since this is not the first time you have come to GFY with a hard luck story and asked for donations....

I scanned this in a few days ago and censored some of it. I don't know what it proves except that I went to the emergency room and had a lot of tests done. Hit me up on ICQ if you want to see the uncensored version.

spunkmister 01-31-2007 08:06 PM

I hope things work out for you but to be honest I'm amazed that since the last time you were in trouble you havn't had some sort of backup plan...especially considering you have kids. Are you and your wife both American Citizens? As ADG said above if she is a Canadian citizen isn't there some help you can receive through her? If not then I can't understand why both of you remained there knowing that neither could work without work permits.

It's a long story but the nub of it is I didn't apply for citizenship because I was afraid I might not qualify.

ADG Webmaster
Legally she can work in Canada. In reality she can only work online... I don't discuss her medical problems. I think I can safely mention that she suffers from a great deal of social anxiety though.

pocketkangaroo 01-31-2007 08:17 PM

Sorry to hear about your health issues.

I'll offer some advice, take it for what it's worth. I think you or your wife might want to look into a different profession. It seems like both of you have been more or less just posting for money the past few months. While I'm sure it's more convenient and comfortable, I'm sure there are other types of jobs out there that offer benefits such as health insurance, or bring in a stable enough income to afford health insurance. You've been in the industry for awhile, and if you're still posting to make ends meet, it might be time for a different profession.

I don't want that to come across too negatively, but sometimes you have to look at the reality of a situation. Working retail or something might suck, but if it covers your family health insurance and brings in a stable income to live on, that's all that matters.

Dagwolf 01-31-2007 08:47 PM

The bottom 6 spots are sold and I'm waiting for the ad codes.

Holly 01-31-2007 09:39 PM

Dear god.

I have no desire to icq you, so I'll just post my suggestion here-

You and your wife need to get jobs. Real ones.

AllStar 01-31-2007 09:40 PM

hmmm medical is like $70 - 100 bucks a month in BC and if you go to Canada
on any sort of Visa you are entitled to Medical.
So either you didn't pay the medical or you didn't look into it properly.
Finally you don't have to pay your bills for medical what are they gonna take away from you?
Last if not least transfer all your assets to somebody you trust and go to Welfare and get them to get you on Medical.

AllStar 01-31-2007 09:47 PM

if you came to Canada on a temp work permit you were entitled to medical:
heres the link:

http://www.healthservices.gov.bc.ca/...gible.html#who

pocketkangaroo 01-31-2007 09:50 PM

I'm not sure how it is in Canada, but I've had friends up there for some time. I'm fairly certain they can't deny you health coverage. Sure you'll be stuck with a ton of bills, but almost every medical place will get you on a payment plan when things settle down. It's better to be paying medical bills for the rest of your life than having no life at all.

AllStar 01-31-2007 09:52 PM

Not only that Medical can be backdated. So you have to register and then tell them the day you came to BC, provide proof of when you arrived and then you will be on the hook for the monthly premiums from the day you arrived which if you came 5 years ago will be between 4500 and 6k.
Medical premiums are based on income too.

wyldworx 01-31-2007 09:54 PM

you will be right, dags, remember that I am poor, but have said if i can i would help you out.

wyldworx 01-31-2007 09:59 PM

please be aware that all three of those temporary meds they have given you are for blood presure, so too many of them can throw you deeper into an anxious state. I would be getting more oppinions and shopping around, even asking someone if they will claim it for you. It might be wrong, but overall, you will live, and that is probably more right in the long run...
