How many can say that they actually work 12 h/day?

I've seen guys claim that they actually worked 10-12 hours everyday but how many actually work that much? I mean I pull 10-12 hours all the time but half of those time I'll be surfing message boards, reading SEO or doing some other unrelated stuff. Its so easily to get distracted and you end up checking stats every hour, if someone does actually work 12 hours of actual work everyday. My hats off to ya.

Ice 01-24-2006 11:03 AM

I put in about 10-12 at least. Dual screens so I can multitask :)

detoxed 01-24-2006 11:04 AM

I try, but its hard

DutchTeenCash 01-24-2006 11:05 AM

workin 12hrs a day is stupid

if youre smart youll work 4-5 hrs a day and still be able to do everything you need to do, productivity after 8-10 hrs is close to zero

EdgeXXX 01-24-2006 11:05 AM

Shit, I wish........ I work around 14-18 hours/day easy. When we get a big project with a tight deadline, that number goes up dramatically.

casinoguy 01-24-2006 11:05 AM

I thing there are a lot of people there working 12 hours per day

Reading the boards I do, and just keeping the pulse of the industry is part of my job since 1998, so in reality, I'm always working hard, or hardly working if you are my ex wife. :)

Aly 01-24-2006 11:06 AM

I'm at a minimum of 12/ day... unless there's a really good sale at Barney's of course. :thumbsup

Depends. If you schedule everything right (as in take breaks, eat, workout, etc.) you can easily stay productive. It just requires modifying your lifestyle

StuartD 01-24-2006 11:09 AM

I used to work more than 12 hours a day... 12 would be taking it easy.

But ever since starting a family, I try to spend more time away from the computer. I still tend to do more than 8 hours (on week-days) but I make sure to get my quality time with my baby.

Just because I'm posting on one screen doesn't mean I'm not doing work on the other.

Example... Right now I"m...

Drinking coffee

Having a smoke

Posting on GFY

Uploading a new site

Checking Emails

Approving submissions

Batch processing images

Extended find and replace on about 2000 html pages

:pimp

I think if some actually work 12/day and not making a mil a year is doing something very wrong, I don't even work half of that time and hope to reach a mil/year soon.

Denis_SC 01-24-2006 11:10 AM

I work at least 10 hours / day for sure :pimp

Ben.Z 01-24-2006 11:11 AM

I don't work 12, and I'm not sure that my income would increase in the exact proportion if I did move up to that amount... at the moment I've got myself a nice balance of lifestyle and $. :)

12 hours a day would mean vacationing for me :(

polish_aristocrat 01-24-2006 11:20 AM

and how many work 1 hour daily?

DeadFidel 01-24-2006 11:20 AM

I used to, now I'm down to 8 or so.

rowan 01-24-2006 11:22 AM

How many work fixed hours, either in a corporate or home office? How many work ad-hoc "as needed" at any time of the day?

I do the latter...

I agreed, if anything that would take me 12 hours to get it all complete. I would hire someone to do it, I seriously can't find enought work to do for 12 hours because I have to wait for my coder or designer to finish whatever their doing before I can finish that project.

I admit am not doing everything am supose to but if I did work for 12 hours of actual work. I'll be a multi-millionare :Oh crap

I have knowlege and smart but no discipline... sigh...

Those of us that work 12+ hrs/day are the ones that you pay to do it :pimp

BigCashCrew 01-24-2006 11:31 AM

Shit you're right, I don't have any deadlines and the only work I really do is starting new projects and finish project. I don't have many tedious task like video editing or making galleries, I hire people to do that. It doent change the fact that am slacker though :disgust maybe thats why I hire people to do that cause am too lazy to do it myself.

BlackCrayon 01-24-2006 11:37 AM

i haven't worked 12 hours a day since 2000 probably. sure there are days i'll do 12 but its not the norm. spent a lot of time working 2-3 hours a day max but that isn't good either. your income usually will slip, as mine did. if there is a guarenteed payoff, i don't mind working lots but i find i can put in 12 hours or i can put in 8 (and sometimes much less) and still make the same amount of money.

TheSenator 01-24-2006 11:39 AM

I've been lazy. I am only working about four hours a day.

Baker Rd 01-24-2006 11:40 AM

no more than 8 hours a day

Bird 01-24-2006 11:58 AM

The questiond should be how many people consider sitting in front of GFY for12 hours a day WORK.

market research

Theprincipal 01-24-2006 12:03 PM

In this bussiness, its hard to consider what is actual work. I find it impossible to say that you actually work 12 hours/day. If you're working at a factory in an absembly like then yea... that is actual work but there just noway you find enought work in video editing and galleries to make up for 12 hours of actual work. Even so, working 12 hours on tedious task is pretty stupid if you can hire employee to do those task. Then again... its those hire employee that actually work that kind of hours and have to stick to deadlines but I also find it odd that employee works that much for a set wage, why not just start doing stuff for your own site? with working 12 hours, you should learn enought to start your own projects

Peaches 01-24-2006 12:06 PM

I used to - did it for years and years and years. Now I'm focusing on school and I have to say it's nice to have time to do things like go to the park, run errands, read, watch a movie, etc. :)

Grapesoda 01-24-2006 12:20 PM

I do, going to vendors, checking BB's, reading email . .. camera test, are all work to me. just like shooting and editing

Wiggles 01-24-2006 12:34 PM

i work like 16 a day, that is straight work.
