Rochard Serously Owned by Highway Patrol
 

Had to attend a wedding in LA this weekend, so I drove out by myself Thursday night. Not twenty minutes into the trip and I've got some asshole seriously tailgating me. I have a long trip ahead of me and I'm not in any hurry so I'm taking it easy, but this guy is getting on my nerves. This was in a pack of traffic where I had an 18 wheeler in front of me.

I tap my brakes a few time, he doesn't back down.
I downshift a few times, he doesn't back down.

It's important to notw that my windows are tinted so dark that I can't see out my rear windows at night.

I clear the patch of traffic and romp on it a bit, bringing me up to 110MPH.

Bam. Turns out the "asshole" tailgating me is a cop.

He pulls me over and asks "do you know why I pulled you over?" Although normally I'm very respectful to police officers, I replied "Because you were tailgating me".

Four minutes later there are three highway patrol officers there and I'm cooling my heels in the back of a police car while they search my Mustang.

Got a ticket "excessive speed". No tickets for four years, suddenly two in one month. Time to slow down, eh?

damn that sucks, the same thing happened to me in Germany....but I had to call a friend to drive me home because they didn't want me to drive

I found out that cops like to target people in Mustangs.

Being stereotypical, the usual Mustang owner is arrogant, etc.

With the amount of bass banging that goes on out here in these SUV's I feel is this an unjust ticket.

I have to go to court on this one, however I doubt it will get me anywhere. I'll bitch about the tailgating and deny the speed. Maybe I'll get it bumped down a little.

Sorry. Although I'm well paid by Steve Lightspeedo there, I'm not at the point where I can afford my Ferrari, a daily driver, my wife's truck, and my bike. Being as I haul around models and computer stuff, I need a back seat and a trunk.

I will, however, race you pink slips - what ever your driving vs me on my bike.

Fight it, they provoked you by tailgating you anyways. At the least, get it knocked down a tad.

I have a 450HP Pontiac Grand Am (yes, i said Grand Am) with the best radar detector on the market. I also have a laser jammer, front liscense plate laser blocker, back liscense plate cover that shows my plate head on, but blurs it for highway cameras.
Trust me, all this is well worth it. My radar detector pics up radar well before i see a cop, so i can slow down...
The laser jammer scambles the cops signal, so he gets his first shot sent back blank to him. By that time, my radar detector tells me i got shot once, so I have time to slowdown by the second shot.
The only bad part is laser because the radar detectors pick up the signal... but not until you've been shot. Laser guns don't turn on until the trigger has been shot.

Have had 3 tickets in the last 2 years...for... you guessed it speeding.

The fucked up part is I drove just as fast in all my other cars but this thing IS a cop magnet!!

damn dude i know how that goes. my best so far is a ticket for 120mph and also one for racing on the highway.

Can't see why you gave them permission to search your car. Don't think speeding is probable cause to search.

I have a lot of respect for police officers. I don't shot when trying to do my job. When three cops in three cop cars want to search my car, I'm all for it. Anything short of an anal prob is okay with me.

Hmm...at 110 that is usually considered to be reckless driving and one is taken to jail...not cited for excessive speed. Consider yourself to be lucky.

The sorry thing is that as it's near the end of the month. The officer probably needed to fill his quota for the month and did whatever he could to provoke you to speed ahead.Bad break :(

Rochard, go to court, and indicate that you were accellertating to attempt to pull away from a tailgater. You made the steps (flashing the taillights, etc) to attempt to get him to back off, and you had to take action to protect yourself. It wasn't clear to you that slowing down would have stopped the problem and considering the way things go on the roads these days, you feared that he might be armed (road rage).

The action of the police to tailgate you for any period of time without lights put more of the public at risk than any of your actions.

You might not win, but the judge will almost certainly give the cop a finger wagging.

Almost happened to me the other day, but even worse, by a bicycle cop, when I was stoped at a light he came by and jacked my licence and told me to pull over, then he realized what song I was bumping and what I did for a living and let me go. Turns out that Lil John and Usher's "yeah!!" was his favorite song and I guess he really liked porn too. But I have a factory system a lil upgraded with the bose but no boz or anything, those tickets are fuckin rediculous!
