what does a sales rep do?
 

i'm curious. it sounds like something i should be doing for someone.

Post a lot for massive sig exposure.

Answer questions and present a report to the client re 'company perception'

Make announcements on behalf of the client

Assist in press releases

Assist in idea dissemination and info gathering

We do some of this already. We offer sig post saturation/announcements for 12 cents each

the sales rep of today is not what it used to be in the past in this business.

Now, reps need to "produce" sales. They need to have an understanding of the biz, be able to give marketing ideas, have lots of computer skills and at the same time be able to blow lots of smoke up peoples ass!

heh. I dont know if you're serious or not, but I was thinking about applying to do it too, im really good at sales and marketing, etc and I know I have a better understanding of the industry then a lot of sales reps out there. Just not sure if I want to work for someone else.

I would luv to do that. Sig can change with the first of the year. Guess I'd have to change my name to Epic-pussy or silver pussy. I like Naughty-Pussy. Geeze I'm a guy though.

Know a bit about html and I can read. I think many reps help out affilaites with promtion issues like getting the banner to link to the site or how do I get that row of webcam girls window on my TGP or how do I do an iFrame.....

A rep also has to cause a little drama from time to time to make sure impressions of the sig are high.

A rep ICQs affilaites about specials and keeps the sponsors name in front of the crowd least they forget to promote - all without it seeming like spam.

A real good rep lies about conversions and shaving. Ah err puts a good spin on conversions and shaving. Then there is the sucking up to the boss.

Thanks. But how do you do that? Like say if I was interested in being a rep for epic cash.. do you just email the people there and explain your experience/what you bring to the table? Or is there a different way of going about this?

I was exagerrating, of course. I deal with affiliates on a daily basis through email, ICQ or AIM. Help them with promotion, get them the things they need, etc.

No need for me to lie about shaving. We don't shave and we have a 3rd party verification company that confirms that. As for conversions, I only quote my own and program-wide conversions, and I'm always truthful with that.

Being a part-time rep means I also do my own stuff the rest of the time. I speak to reps for other companies and I'd hate to be fed bullshit by them, so there's no way I'd do the same to others. Commission makes up a big chunk of my salary. The less my affiliates make, the less I make. The more they make, the more I make. So why would I feed 'em bullshit?

In my case, pimpdog saw me around the boards and I guess he liked what he saw, so he approached me and offered me a position.

But your idea would work. What do you have to lose? Worst case scenario is that they'll say they're not interested.

If you make even a somewhat decent income from your own sites, you don't want to be a sales rep. Trust me. You'll get frustrated real quick, haha.
