Someone do me a favor and ask why they set up their sign-up process so it authorizes and then charges you as separate transactions. For example, if you want to start out by loading $100 on your card, it authorizes (holds) $100, and then runs a separate charge (with a separate transaction number) at the end of the process.

That's just fucked up... in all of my years of shopping I've *never* run into a business that ran the authorization and the charge as separate transactions... and I'm an obsessive complulsive shopper, so I've seen a lot. =P

QUESTION: I have a Commerce account with you and I need to send money to people who have a personal epassporte account. Why can't I send money, and what are my options to be able to do so?

BuckLover 05-25-2004 11:31 AM

Good, I have questions!

Epassporte kicks ass, but it would be nice to know if the time will come when it will work with all processors.

Babel 05-25-2004 11:50 AM

epassporte sucks ass if you have more then 50$ in it. it's virtually useless everywhere exept to withdraw at ATM

brand0n 05-25-2004 12:05 PM

It is a Risk Management issue. If you signed up with a credit card that is part of the verification process. If t is a special circumstance, you moved, whatever, we always accommodate those requests.

The sign up process is designed to do 2 things: 1. Make sure you are who you say you are. This means we do a small transaction that you must verify through your bank. Second, if you do not have the $100 open to buy on your load card there is really no point in going through any of this.

When is Epoch planning on paying sponsored merchant on ePassporte?

Lensman 05-25-2004 12:14 PM

Chris should start a new thread "I will answer all Epassporte questions here". I'll pin it.

I've used it to register domains at Dotster.com and buy shoes for my wife from a local store. I tried to use it in a supermarket chain and in a clothes store but it didn't work (I think that's because of the bank network they're on or something like that).

You can. If you are having problems call Rand +1 310-827-5880, ext. 211

Now, a personal account holder can't send to a business, unless you have an ePPurchase account as a part of the set up.

On second thought, this thread is fine too. It's up to Chris.

Is it because you are in Brazil?

Technical time is required for this to happen. CCBill has the documentation as do others. I think this will happen over time, but we all understand that Tech time is at a premium. ePassporte is becoming more accepted by the Webmaster Community. The more demand and acceptance the faster this will happen.

EPOCH does pay Sponsored Merchants by ePassporte. The Sponsored Merchants (Primary Account Holders) must request this. A Sponsored Merchant must have an ePassporte Business account to be paid by ePassporte.

Untrue. It is accepted everywhere Visa is accepted and where there is a swipe terminal present. If you are having problems, call Rand.

Great, last time i checked it wasn't available. Just figured i'd ask here. This is great, instead of wire-in money to pay affiliates, can use it directly there! :thumbsup

Call Rand or Cardholder Services and they can check your account.

What's the difference between a regular cardholder and a merchant?

A Merchant is a Business Account-holder. They are allowed to accept payments via ePassporte, in a B2P / P2B environment. A "regular" account-holder can only shop, use the ATM and do P2P transactions.

x582 05-25-2004 12:25 PM

Question:

1.)Got my account within the first days ePassporte was launched and my electron card is blocked at $300 widthdrawal limit per 24h, is there a way it can be increased?

2.) Any plans to adobt the "regular" Visa (sign-receipt, not PIN-based) anytime soon?

...also, Business Accounts are able to load via wire transfer whereas personal accounts are only able to load by credit card. Soon, however, we will announce a new way to load and unload!

It gets spit out at Petro Canada, declined at restaurants, decline by CyberCat Inc, same things at many ATM, it spits the card and prints "Refused" or "Invalid Card". I keep calling your support number and noone knows the problem over there. I'm still waiting for their e-mails to tell me what happened. And thats not anonymous online charges, thats all transactions where I have to endure getting my card turned over because it's declined in front of real people and in presence of people I know.

1. You may call Cardholder Services +1-310-301-2001- and request an increase. This is based upon your account and a risk score assigned by that department.

2. ePassporte already has and uses signature-based functionality for approved Cardholders for cards issued after March 2004. For those of you that have Electron Cards issued prior to March 2004 you may call Cardholder Services and request that your card be signature based.
