Webmasters & their age.

In this business you don't need an MBA to be succesfull and respected.
Often you can do the same things, regardless if you are 20 or 40.
Age does not bring you respect, unless you are succesfull.
And many people who are quite young are extremely succesfull ( f.e GTS ).
But i wonder if you find yourself sometimes not trusting people only because of their young age.
I mean people who are 19-21.
Does it make any difference for you f.e if you are considering to heavily promote a new affiliate program, when you know the owner is only 20, because of the stereotype: young = irresponsible = > untrustworthy....

what is your opinion on this? :glugglug

Juicy D. Links 05-11-2004 12:44 PM

age isnt that important as long as maturity and common sense prevails. Its whoever I can learn from.

I would have to say it depends on their experience within this industry and not their age. I would trust doing business with a 19 year old so long as he's been around at least a year or so for example.

I've found that the best way to overcome your age as an issue is to be very well read on whatever business issue is at hand and have the versatility to branch off into other issues. I look like I'm in my late teens though I'm 26 so I usually spend the first few minutes of any new business conversation showing my know how on the subject at hand.

hehe, i also look very young :glugglug

but i was talking not about people who look young ( since you can only see that in the real world ), but who are actually very young but want to make some big deals, or own serious businesses. I was wondering if some people think twice between doing business with them, because they admitted that they are so young.

sumphatpimp 05-11-2004 01:29 PM

so i'll crack up the posting bot, run up the post count , then it will be easier to scam you.

thats good info to have.

thanks.

I never have as long as they know what they're talking about. I feel more comfortable doing business with people my own age then old "been doing business for 20 years" fucks who think their seniority is reason enough to risk money on them.

bizmak 05-11-2004 03:17 PM

I'm 94:321GFY

Basic_man 05-11-2004 03:19 PM

Well, I'm 18, so I know I can trust buddy who have my age..! :2 cents:

Hardcore J 05-11-2004 03:53 PM

I started Stupid Cash when I was 19, I'm 20 now, but I've had people turn down business with me because I was too young.

The Heron 05-11-2004 04:21 PM

I am 200 years old, please do biz with me!

Rictor 05-11-2004 04:41 PM

I trust people who treat this like a business. Too many kids on here treat this industry as a means to an end, and the end is getting wasted, partying, and blowing all their income.

Thats true. It seems like its more maturity level then age that seperates adult webmasters. There seems to be the quiet webmasters with a wife and multiple kids and a nice new big house by the ocean and then the webmasters who love to go out and party, flaunt their profession, get loaded drunk and then do it all again tomorrow. Theres people from all age groups in each category, so age isnt a good determining factor.
I still havent decided which category Im in yet :thumbsup

JSA Matt 05-12-2004 10:02 AM

I've been doing this for 5 years, i'm 21 now and have no plans to turn back. Hate us if you want but we will be here for a long, long, long time :glugglug

4Pics 05-12-2004 10:43 AM

age really doesnt matter.

RyuLion 05-12-2004 11:40 AM

I'm 27.
Enough said.

so you started as underage :BangBang: :1orglaugh

newsdude 05-13-2004 03:31 AM

Age is nothing!

polish_aristocrat 05-13-2004 03:33 AM

Well, maybe the reason i started this is that i have grown up in Poland.
In the US you get the first job when you are 12, in Poland often 24. :1orglaugh

That is why people who are 20 are often perceived as kids, since they usually have no experience and are therefore not responsible enough.
That changes though :glugglug

NickB. 05-13-2004 03:51 AM

I started in this business when I was 16-17 years old, now it's more than 5 years later :thumbsup

~ Why is this happening?
Due to the overall instability of the adult industry Hardcore J has decided to pursue new business ventures

:winkwink:

Poontang Pimp 02-13-2005 06:33 AM

All most all of deals Ive done online, If other webmasters didnt view my age in the forums or asked, Most have said I act 30+. I always ask cause I wonder the same thing some time. Btw...Im only 22.

tungsten 02-13-2005 06:33 AM

i dont look at the age, i look at the skill, i have found younger webmasters to be more creative (programmers/designers etc) just from personal experience

Corleone 02-13-2005 06:35 AM

I don't care about the age

Dalai lama 02-13-2005 06:36 AM

Age doesnt matter for me, I do business with all ages types. I look at the background of them, what projects they own ect.
