Nysus 01-31-2004 02:57 PM

Great name for party girl or Mardi-gras.

Cheers,
Matt

Evil Chris 01-31-2004 02:59 PM

It gets no traffic at all.

Dirty F 01-31-2004 03:02 PM

Nice name...

Reminds of me what was on the news today.

Two twins are terrorizing some town here in Holland by flashing their dicks to people on the street. 2 identical twins hahah! Freaky shit.

Ross 01-31-2004 03:46 PM

flashers.com seems like a nice domain to me.

Daymare 01-31-2004 03:50 PM

I would buy it in a second if I had the money.

Great domain name.

Lens, you should snap it up before it's sold. You already have all the wild party girl stuff and it would rock the house under adultplatinum :)

shepherd 01-31-2004 03:51 PM

Hi Hooper,
Got your email, thanks
YGM too.
Cheers
Sal.

I agree... why not just use an escrow if you're worried about not getting paid?

Seeing that you've only been here 1 month and only 100 posts, it seems that you're the one without a reputation. If you're worried about not getting paid, use an escrow.

WG

shepherd 01-31-2004 04:29 PM

We will use escrow in any event.
We're business people and we deal with business people. Real buyers shouldn't suffer because of fake bidders and pay extra. If you have no one strong in this industry to stand next to you and give a good word about you, then this deal is not for you.
Plain and simple.

As far as me, if you don't know, take a look at the last Secretary.com thread and read through the end.

Brujah 01-31-2004 05:29 PM

shepherds ok.

are you finding it easier to sell a name here than the usual DN spots ?

gideongallery 01-31-2004 05:31 PM

you might want to by flasher.com and sell them together. any promotion of this domain would bleed traffic to the other domain and vice versa so there respective values would be depressed.

There are some really good people here that understand business better then other industries on the web.
For domain auctions, which I hardly do, I only post in two other places - Domainstate.com and Webfather's private domain board.
Webfather's board is THE best place for domainers and access to the board is by invitation only. Also known as "the HARDEST place on the web to get in".
My partner posts here regularly so I feel right at home. I met few very good people through the few posts I posted so far so I like the place.

When the passwords for everyone was changed, I missed out on getting a new one.

slavdogg 01-31-2004 05:57 PM

shepherd, is a very respectful biz person and assosiate.

hope this clears up any doubts some of you might have about his reputation

shepherd 01-31-2004 05:57 PM

I also have allot of contacts with most of the big buyers in the domain industry so when a domain comes, I'll shoot them emails directly. I also wouldn't represent something I think is really overpriced. My game is to keep everyone happy, not just to sell everything possible. Long term happy contacts will work better then short term profits, for me anyways.

shepherd 01-31-2004 05:58 PM

Thanks Slav for the kind words :)

sacX 01-31-2004 06:00 PM

i wasn't suggesting that shepherd wasn't respectable or anything. I was just saying that a lot of people who buy domains don't maintain a profile, and in my opinion his approach is a bit short sighted.

many would agree with that comment, right Shep ? :)

shepherd 01-31-2004 06:06 PM

It all depends what you're trying to achieve.
By stating what I did my goal is to protect buyers not to overpay when fake bids come (and they do), not as some indicated protect myself from being ripped off.

Lee 01-31-2004 06:09 PM

Shepherd knows his stuff guys as is probably very correct in those stipulations. Im sure he wont have no shortage of offers either...

KRL 01-31-2004 06:15 PM

For the record folks, there are a lot of people in the biz who don't necessarily hang out on GFY and other webmaster boards who are still major players on the Net.

Sal (Shep) is one of them. For those who don't know him, Sal has even more domains than Rick (Webfather) and Rick's portfolio is enormous as everyone knows.

A lot of guys like to stay behind the scenes and low key. Sal is very low key, not showy, humble, and a very sharp domain investor and speculator, in fact same league as Rick.

We're having lunch tomorrow and are working on some projects together.

Nysus 01-31-2004 06:33 PM

shepard - Do you mind if I send you an email regarding something different?

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks kevin! :)
This week Kevin and I got our hands on a dream property, on the level of sex.com ( I think it's better but that's disputable)
If you think we're after the hundreds of millions you're wrong. The plan is to go for the billions - and get 'em :)

150-200 type ins most likely and you would probably convert with right program. Make a great Mardi Gras site.

Just got a 15k offer from a good friend of mine. This was also the reserve price (which I forgot to include in my initial post)
This name WILL be sold by Tuesday to the highest bidder.
Cheers
Sal.

Interesting. Sex.com, in my mind, is the undisputed king of revenue-generating generic type-in traffic. In the adult biz, runner-ups are porn.com, milf.com, pussy.com, porno.com, or girls.com. Porn.com is the only one I'd think you could realistically dispute as better than sex.com.

In non-adult, again I can't think of any generics that beat sex.com, although movies.com gets a lot of traffic, and names like drugs.com, loans.com, music.com, and tickets.com get way less traffic but I'm sure do well on a per-click basis. Oh wait...travel.com...domain created 21-Jan-2004, while untrue, seriously suggests some movement is afoot...less traffic, but high revenue, with huge potential. Tickets.com I could see putting in that category too. Any other guesses people have?

Speaking of domain names, someone must really hate THIS GUY.
