Congratulate me! I'm not fat anymore!

Anyone who has known me has known that I am a little on the heavy side. Being 6'3", having a thick frame, and having a slow metabolism, I have been over 200lbs since I was 15 and I have been over 250lbs for over 6 years.
After the LA show in November I decided I had to do something with myself. I was at 268lbs, my all time high. My energy was low and my self-esteem was not too great when it came to my physical appearance. I joined a gym a couple miles from my house that was open 24 hours a day and started going every day, rain or shine, whether I was sleepy, tired, in a shitty mood, etc.
After going to the gym every day for the past 5 weeks and doing my best to watch what I eat I have been watching the pounds drop off as I added muscle. Yesterday I weighed in at 251.6 lbs and went to the gym for 3 hours, pushing myself till my whole body burned.
I woke up this morning and weighed in at 249.2 lbs. You have no idea how encouraging it is to hit a goal like that.
I feel so damn satisfied that I am going to the gym today to push it even further ( I normally take Sundays off). I want to hit 245lbs by Vegas next week. I know I can do it if I stick to it. I've been told I'll never look skinny because of my body type, but because of that I can put on muscle to replace fat and at least look healthy. I don't care as long as I feel good about myself!

Anyone want a workout partner for Vegas? I'm game! :thumbsup

Pornwolf 12-28-2003 01:27 PM

Keep it up! :thumbsup

Nice man, nice. I'd like to get off my ass and do that too... but I am far beyond lazy. ;)

BradShaw 12-28-2003 01:32 PM

If you want to keep the weight off long term, lose it slowly. No such thing as a quick fix.

Actually I think I am losing it as slowly as possible. Not using any powders, pills, drinks, etc.. doing it all natural with nothing but water during the workout and lots of sweat and motivation.
Some guys at the gym told me I would be losing twice as much if I was using different products, but I don't want to mess with that stuff. Maybe later down the road.
For now I just want to get into the routine of working my body everyday until I want to go to the gym as much as I DIDN'T want to go to the gym before. As long as I keep going I don't think I will have a problem keeping it off. It was there in the first place because I sat in a chair all day and ate whatever I wanted. Changing those two things makes all the difference in the world! :thumbsup

I made this post to up the ante. I will be seeing many of the people here many times over the next year and if I give in and stop they will notice. By posting I have put my back against the wall. I have to keep going forward or I wont be able to live it down. Support from friends is a great motivator, but subjecting yourself to public scrutiny is an even better one :winkwink:

Maru 12-28-2003 01:41 PM

Don't eat one day a week - run 2 miles every day - work out twice a week - think about what you eat/drink.

I promise you guys, it works AND it's a blessing for your body and soul.

radical 12-28-2003 01:42 PM

Keep it up dude :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

What happened Lane? Weren't you a college athelete not too long ago?

Loryn 12-28-2003 01:44 PM

If you make working out a lifestyle and continue to have that lifestyle you will keep it off. Plus you will feel better through the years and look better every year. You can do it!!! I have had several friends come over to this side of the fence and they cannot imagine going back. Just have to have some discipline and it can become a habit. Good luck.

I am staying at The Venetian, so if you are too I'll see ya in the gym!!! :winkwink:

fuzebox 12-28-2003 01:48 PM

Awesome :thumbsup

I went through the same thing about a year ago (I wasn't 268 lbs however), and it's awesome to see the results you get from some dedication and hard work.

Tell me about it. I'm not fat but I could do with losing some weight. I'm tall so I get away with it.

I do not wanna put on anymore weight and I DO wanna loose some but I cannot for the life of me change my eating habits. I just can't do it. I eat takeaway a lot coz I can't be bothered cooking (mainly coz I kinda suck except for stiry fry and omelletes) so I tend to order in or go to a takeaway.

As of this week I will be going to the gym 3 times per week. I still don't think I can stop eating all the shitty food tho :(

Brad Xtremepay 12-28-2003 02:05 PM

I was a runner in Highschool... long distance. Was in GREAT shape. But this industry (computer) makes ya MAD lazy.

until 2.5 years ago I was.. i used to be under 200, but its hard to keep the shape, when going from 30 hours of practice a week to zero.

triumph 12-28-2003 02:09 PM

Good job Zebra!

I am currently 260lbs. and I want to lose about 60 lbs hopefully by summer! I have done it before and after getting married, I put it back on.

Pornwolf 12-28-2003 02:09 PM

That's a shame. Don't let it go on for too much longer or you will end up at the point of no return like most out of shape dudes after college.

Peter Romero 12-28-2003 02:11 PM

Congrats!!! Almost 20 pounds!!! I'll work out with you in Vegas. The walking around for a week usually gets me 5 pounds lighter every year. ICQ me.

Not a chance. You're far too dashingly good looking.

vidvicious 12-28-2003 02:22 PM

Lookin good Chad .. :thumbsup

Babagirls 12-28-2003 02:25 PM

I've been doing the same too......i've put on like 15 pds in the past 2 months from holiday shit and being winter, not motovated to go on walks and etc. I noticed that my size 11's werent fitting and that i moved up to a size 13. So of course, i freaked out.....the biggest thing is watchin carb intake. Breads, pasta's, etc........those are no-no's.

So everynight before bed, I do several different Ab crunches, leg/ab lifts, and etc. My stomach as had that "burning" feeling for over a week now.....sore too. Then every Sunday I do a 15 minute "Run From The Police" kinda run downstairs in the basement (which is HUGE...). I'm already back in my size 11's :thumbsup

Oh ya......FUCKA METABOLISM!!!!!!!!!!!! :321GFY

Spunky 12-28-2003 02:27 PM
