I'm so sorry RRRED. :(

CumSensei 12-10-2003 01:01 PM

I am sorry for ya lost.
My grandma passed away last summer so this will be the first x-mas for my family and her old man without her.

Sure will feel strange but these things always strike the hardest when itīs a holiday cumming up.

Just hang in there and try to tell the children as smooth as possible.

But they do need to know.

Peter Romero 12-10-2003 01:06 PM

God had other plans for her soul. Don't interupt his plans. Be free and celebrate his life. Go fishing @ his favorite spot (more than once) light up one of his old cigars, watch his favorite TV shows, read his favorite book, gather with loved ones on holidays and talk about him and make jokes about his silly ways. This would be what he wanted you to do, so celebrate his life and remember all the good things he wanted you to do & have. That is all that I have for you. Hope that helped.

my Mom died in early November 24 years ago...
my Dad died the day before Thanksgiving 10 years ago. It was always a very sad month for the 5 kids they left behind.

The first few years of them both being gone were rough, but now we look back and enjoy the memories of them and make Thanksgiving into a celebration like no other .

my condolences.....

Kimmykim 12-10-2003 01:14 PM

loverboy 12-10-2003 01:14 PM

im really sorry to hear that.
my sincere condolences :(

wyldblyss 12-10-2003 01:14 PM

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I would suggest that since he passed so close to Christmas that you take this time of year to celebrate his life instead of mourning his passing.

Perhaps visit a place he liked to go, such as a park, prepare his fav foods, drink his fav drink.

Buy a tiny tabletop tree and call it Granpa's Rememberence Tree and have each of your children pick out one or two ornaments from the store that remind them of their grandpa to decorate the tree with. You can put the tree up every year and let the kids add a new ornament every year so that they keep his spirit in their hearts.

This is most true and by far the best advice in such terrible circumstances.

liquidmoe 12-10-2003 01:27 PM

Sorry about the bad news but I think POV had some good ideas how to get through the holidays remembering him and trying to avoid the obvious sadness over losing a loved one.

GigaChris 12-10-2003 01:27 PM

myjah 12-10-2003 01:30 PM

A old friend of mine lost his father december 25th.

:(

PenisFace 12-10-2003 01:35 PM

It depends on how old your kids are.. All of my grandparents had died by the time I was 11, so being younger, it was a little bit easier on me. If they died now, I don't know how I'd feel... Probably like complete shit.

Instead of mourning the loss and focusing on the loss itself, tell your family that they need to remember the good times, and that grandpa had a full and wonderfull life... :2 cents:

rip raster 12-10-2003 01:36 PM

Sorry to hear, it always sucks losing people.... no matter what time of the year it is :(

Sorry to hear about your lose RRRed. I hope you and your family find comfort that he is not in any pain and is in a better place.

RawAlex 12-10-2003 01:39 PM

RRRRed, don't wait, tell them soon - try to keep this away from Christmas so much. Having something like this related to a holiday sucks (I know). It takes a long time to remember to enjoy the holiday again.

condolences...

Gemini 12-10-2003 01:40 PM

It's never a good time RRRED... Our condolences. Remind the kids that he will be forever watching over them. :)

genomega 12-10-2003 02:41 PM

Ross 12-10-2003 02:44 PM
