What do you think of the gay bishop?
The Episcopalian church just appointed their first openly gay bishop. Do you think this is good or bad?
|

I thought Ken was straight??
|
I guess as long as he is gay its cool...
now a gay pedo...he is in the wrong church...hehe I say as always when churches change something, some will leave and some will stay... |
I think the whole ordeal is silly.
You have a million different groups; catholics, christians, episcopal, presbyterian, lutheran and countless others; all with different interpretations of the same book, and apparently the appeal to the same god. Something isn't right, and it isn't that the bishop is a homo. |
Its a joke, it goes against everything the bible teaches. But then again the catholics let all the pagan stuff in back in the roman ages. Christmas and Easter etc are pagan festivials with nothing based on the bible.
I loved Jessy Venturas statement "Organized reliegon is Crutch for the simple minded" HOW FUCKING TRUE IS THAT!! |
As if the other bishops aren't gay....

And don't forget the bible was written LONG LONG time ago....Funny how modern ppl, still follow rules written in an ancient time...I just learned be good for eachother, and you will be fine:) NO matter if you are gay/hetero or whatever.... I think it's better to be gay, and don't follow the bible, but just be a "good" person, then follow the bible, killing thousands of people who don't beleive what you believe....Just my 2 cents Andre |
i plan on leaving the church over this

Where will it stop? With time they will no doubt allow gays to marry, than what? Do you think they will be happy, or do you think the faggots will still bitch about 'discrimination'?
I will tell you where it will stop. It will stop ONLY when homosexual relations are seen as equally normal as hetrosexual relations. What does that mean? It means that children will soon be taught how to fuck a man up the ass, it means that men kissing in public will be seen as normal, it means our society will become degenerate! :ak47: gays :321GFY |
see the church split over female ministers,
now its split again over gay ones, oh well they only got a quater left, |
What's the big fuss? Archer's bishop has been gay for a very long while.
|
Personally I have nothing against gays, whatever floats their boat...... BUT gay priests is taking things a bit too far..
God didn't make Adam & Steve, he made Adam & Eve :2 cents: |

One in the same no? |
I think it is hilarious.
I also like "inter-faith" councils and such. I don't agree with southern baptists etc.. and think quite a few are a bit crazy. However, they will tell you to your face you are a sinner, and damned to hell if you don't change your ways. If you believe something, fuck it don't comprimise because it is no longer politically correct. |
The Christian Church has always had gay clergy. There have been gay priests, cardinals, popes, etc many times in the past. The only thing that's unusual about this is that the Bishop is openly gay. Churches are more interested in appearance than substance. Even to the point that they've tolerated pedaphiles provided that appearances are maintained!
The Church = BIGOTED, HYPOCRITICAL, MORONS! :feels-hot |
Groove - you're so right! how many books have i seen on the shelves of bookstores over the years that are confessions of guilt-ridden gay priests and nuns?
it's silly and unrealistic for the church to pretend that the world is the way they want it. organized religion has always had this weird worldview that allows no compromise but allows for a completely unloving and judgemental view of people - even though the bible tells us not to judge. for goodness' sake, 1 out of 10 people are gay - and about 1 out of 2 are women. and so many "straight" priests have molested children or taken advantage of women by virtue only of their place in the church yet they are not immediately cast out, nor were their many victims believed for years and years. i think it's a good thing that people within the church are gay openly, but SO difficult for individuals. it is only a start to a process that will take unfortunately generations, but there have always been gay people and there always will be. and since they ARE people, it's time to think of them that way and include them in our lives. in the bible, jesus felt that love was very important, but i sure don't see a lot of that in church doctrine :-( if we saw more of it, it would color our daily lives with acceptance - even those of us who don't accept organized religion. |
|
It isn't like he is the first one who is gay, he is the first one who is openly admitting it. I think it is going to crush the church though, alot of people are going to be pissed!!!

I never claimed to believe in the bible, nor did I ever say the bible was right or wrong on any given issue. I'm simply pointing out that for a religion that is based on the bible, its rather odd to appoint a leader whose lifestyle openly contradicts what the bible teaches. Both the old and new testaments condemn homosexuality. |
I think people need to stop making an issue over someone who prefers being with the same sex.
To each his own. They should enjoy equal rights like everyone else. As long as he, or someone in a position of power over children, doesn't start touching kids and stuff. That's where you have to draw the line an say their sexual orientation is affecting others. |
I think it's great just because I'm sure it's pissing off loads of christians right now because their perfect world is crumbling before them.
|
I think we should get a rope and string'em up

I just think its hypocritical for a religion that claims to be based on the bible, a book which condemns homosexuality, to appoint a leader who is openly homosexual. |
Quote:
But can anyone offer a quote from Jesus condemning homosexuality? The rest of the Bible is just the Church (and whoever else had sway at the time that the Bible was written and then rewritten and then rewritten again) saying what they "think" is the gospel from God (or politically expedient). Plus of course it is HIGHLY questionable how accurately Jesus's gospel was recorded. So the fact is that anyone who takes the Bible literally is a total fucking moron. And anyone who thinks the Church represents God deserves to be ass-fucked 'cause they were certainly asking for it! :winkwink: |
