Extremist groups who claim to follow Islam are no more representative of Islam than David Koresh is of Christianity.

In the West, the concept of jihad has been improperly translated as 'holy war.' Instead, jihad means 'struggle' and refers, in particular, to the personal struggle that every Muslim engages in to live a peaceful and good life.

One of the basic precepts of Islam is the equality of all people regardless of race, ability, or gender.

Muslims believe that there is no compulsion in religion and that individuals are free to choose their own religion and beliefs.

You forgot a key fact about Islam... it's all make-believe. Along with Christianity and Judaism.

That is complete bullshit on it's way to becoming hopeful myth. Islam advocates the most brutal forms of violence for the most minor of crimes. (As does the bible.) For example, here's what the Koran says should be done to all us evil non-believers:

"So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them" (Koran 47:4)

I cannot remember the exact date but in the 3rd or 4th century a Muslim warrior swept through most of North Africa "converting" the people there. There was also Saladin who occupied Palestein and that area.

It has always been a religion that practiced peace and love while slaughtering everyone that stood in it's way. They also revere the "Holy Warrior Leaders" a lot like Christianity and now that the Jews have an army them as well.
