Americans - Do you know what EU is ?

Been many articles in papers about how little
US people know about politics outside US and how
little americans no about other countries.

So, because of this I'd like to see what you know
about EU ?

LiveDose 03-05-2003 06:31 AM

They were a one hit wonder group from the 80's. Good song but a little on the pop side.

See we know our stuff. :winkwink:

Do i get to ask you a question now? Focus on your work man. We are really killing this whole American topic. How about 1 days rest?

E.U. Da' Butt Lyrics

Alright. Come on. Sing it one time
(Yeah-ee yeah. Yeah-ee, Yeah-ee, Yeah-ee Yeah)
Sing! Ow!
(Yeah-ee yeah. Yeah-ee, Yeah-ee, Yeah-ee Yeah)
Ha! Ha!

Walked in this place surprised to see
A big girl gettin´ busy, just rockin´ to the go-go beat
The way she shook her booty sho´ looked good to me
I said, ´Come here, big girl, won´t you rock my world
Show that dance to me.´ She was

CHORUS:
Doin´ the butt. Hey pretty, pretty
When you get that notion, put your backfield in motion, hey
Doin´ the butt. Hey sexy, sexy Ain´t nothing wrong, if you
wanna do the butt all night long

(Hey yeah-ee yeah. Yeah-ee, Yeah-ee, Yeah-ee Yeah)
Ow, what you gonna do about it
(Yeah-ee yeah. Yeah-ee) Shake it! (Yeah-ee, Yeah-ee Yeah)

I took that girl out on the floor
She rocked me from the backside
We did the butt til it made me sore
Now, it´s a physical thing, but not hard to do
You just shake-a shake shake shake
Shake-a shake shake
Doin´ the butt the whole night through, come on

CHORUS

That´s right! Shake your butt.
Come on! Gimme that butt! Gimme that butt!

Tanya got a big ol´ butt (oh yeah?)
Theresa got a big ol´ butt (oh yeah?)
Irene got a big ol´ butt (oh yeah?)
Melissa got a big ol´ butt now
And Sonya got a big ol´ butt (oh yeah?)
And Shirley got a big ol´ butt (oh yeah?)
Ol´ Tammy got a bubble butt (oh yeah?)
Little Keisha got a big ol´ butt, now, gimme the butt!

(Yeah-ee yeah. Yeah-ee, Yeah-ee, Yeah-ee Yeah)
I´m gonna drop you lines, before we set up
We´re screamin´ at girls with the big ol´ butt, sing it
(Yeah-ee yeah. Yeah-ee) Ow! (Yeah-ee, Yeah-ee Yeah)
I want your butt. That butt. That big ol´ big ol´ butt. Ow!

CHORUS

What it looks like to me is a european imitation of the US, but it won't work very long for the same reasons all those europeans left Europe to make the US..doh!

... what a silly topic, I am pretty much sure that 99.9% of the US people know what and where the EU is.

... but you can´t expect an american to tell you how to drive from mardid to london, as you couldn´t expect an european to tell you how to get from miami to washington ...

Look at the numbers dude. You be living in dream land if you think Europe will speak and act with one voice as well as the US.

Where did you learn that?

First americans were prisonners. Reject by everybody in their country. Their only chance to survive was to go in america.

The EU is the european attempt to inject the most paperwork possible into government. Now everything must be translated 15 times and all the money is ugly.

They also seem bound and determined to depreciate the value of the ugly money to the point where the looney will become the world standard.

W00t for globalization!

From Spain I would recommend taking a car ferry rather than driving all the way to the tunnel which you can't drive through anyway.

So, mine aswell drive your car on to a boat and eat, drink, gamble your way across.

Also..it does seem that a lot of people don't know the difference between Europe, the EU, and the common currency. Don't worry not everyone Europe knows the difference.

While we're at it, by watching some of the things you Europeans post on here, I wonder, do you guys even know how to think outside what you read and see on the news? I mean, it's not that hard to use your head once in awhile, really. It seems that every time you try to talk shit Americans, you always refer to the same cheesy news article: "Americans don't know the map!", "Americans need to get out more!". Look and realize the facts, instead of reading some half ass attempt at a scientific study, and I'll guarantee that you'll find the answers to all your questions. I'll give you some simple off the top of my head hints:

- In just over 220 years, America has grown to become the richest, most powerful nation the world has even seen. All this because of AMERICAN economic and political policies.

- Chances are, you or one of your family members at some point in their life, attended school at an American University. Well, scratch this in your case. Based on the question that you asked above, it seems that you probably have never attended any higher education institution.

- Chances are, you're using a sponsor program that is "Made in the USA, by an AMERICAN entrepreneur" *ding* I hear a lightbulb turning on in a European's head right now.

I am an American, I love Europe and I think the EU has serious problems. The challenges of merging so many diverse cultures and national identities is daunting. The progress has been good but some of the problems are showing now as each member country tries to identify and define it's international policies.

The statement by Jacque Chirac in the past few weeks threating new members of the EU can undermine a good thing.

One more note regarding currency and other economic issues. The US is paying an economic proce for financing 60 years of protecting Europe from the Soviet Union. US Taxpayers shouldered most of the bill for defending Western Europe. The other side buckled under the economic pressure.

Ludedude 03-05-2003 06:22 PM

EU, thats that French place, right?

"I would rather have a German division in front of me than a French one
behind me." --- General George S. Patton

"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without your
accordion." --Norman Schwartzkopf

"We can stand here like the French, or we can do something about it." ----
Marge Simpson

"As far as I'm concerned, war always means failure" ---Jacques Chirac,
President of France

"The only time France wants us to go to war is when the German Army is
sitting in Paris sipping coffee." --- Regis Philbin

but overall you're probably right, many American's aren't all that hip on global politics, etc...beyond what is portrayed on CNN...

but be careful about making blanket statements about Americans, that door swings both ways...

MarkTiarra 03-05-2003 06:32 PM

This might be a clever question if it wasn't for the fact that we're all on the Internet here and can look up just about anything to sound intelligent.

Statement 1 - agreed

Statement 2 - look in the mirror, the US was not the only one that had that as a legally acceptable practice for many years...

Of course, however as far as I know the UK was the first (or at least one of the the first) to abolish slavery.
&
I'm not the one telling everyone how great and powerful my country is.

No you guys quit doing that when you stopped with the saying that the British Empire was one that the sun never set on...

or something along those lines...

or was it us yanks that made up that saying for you? ;-)

we are rather full of ourselves, but I think that holds true for ANY country (EU, US, Asian, etc)... human nature in general is all about 'being a team picker, a flag waver, etc'

people have and still do fight wars over something as silly as a gang color, family crest, or a country's flag...

Mr Fish,

I like US
I have been there
I am using US made programs, Webhost, Processors
because, simply, they are the best.
No, I have not attended any higher education because of the
simple reason I earn more than any person I know of that
has attended a higher education, not counting Bush - oh sorry
scrath that one, I mean Bill Gates, President of a big compnay,
scammers from worldcom etc..

My question was not - You know nothing !
It was a simple question to know if fellow webmasters
from the US knew about EU.

Strange that some people always smell a fight.
Don't know how you can hang around being paranoid.

Mr Fish, I'm sorry if I offended you.
If I could I would delete this subject and make the time
go back.

Regards Jeroman

Is there a point to this?

Anyone who nowadays wants to limit his possibilities to one region or one country is simply not acting at the full potential.
