Segpay Scam?

I use segpay as my secondary processor and I really don't need Mastercard as I don't have enough sales through segpay. I emailed them last week and told them that I wanted to opt out. Guess what I was charged 500$ today. They are telling me I HAD TO PAY.

Is this a scam or what?

Annual fee, if you were offering MC on the date it rolled to the next year you are being charged.

It is simple, if you were processing MC on the renewal date they got charged and you got charged.

I don't see the scam.

You waited too long to opt out and your account automatically renewed, looks like you have mastercard for one more year. You're lucky they don't cancel your processing for calling them a scam. It was your fault that you didn't opt out in time and are too stupid to realize it even after support told you.

waited too long for what?

you wanna charge someone you have to give me a chance to opt out in advance.

you cant force people to pay. I didnt get a chance to opt out.

you seem a bit slow in the head.

You had a chance a couple weeks before you did, I guess you missed the renewal date email. Once you passed the renewal date you were automatically renewed for the next year and lost your chance to avoid the $500 for the upcoming year on your account. Not sure what you mean by "didn't get a chance to opt out", you were able to do that at any time.

It's what? $40 dollars a month? Is that going to shut down your biz?

How was I suppose to know the renewal date when I was not notified?
As soon as I got their letter about this fee I emailed them.

No, it's just the principle. Segpay is my second processor. For example I managed to avoid this fee by Epoch which is my third processor.

Says the guy selling recurring memberships to surfers. Do you email them in advance of the renewal dates and ask them if they'd like to cancel? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

They can see it on the signup page AND they can cancel it ANYTIME they want. There is nowhere you can find a MasterCard rebill notice on segpay's TOS and noway to cancel it. That is the case with segpay. I managed to avoid it with Epoch. Laugh again.

Kolargol 05-12-2013 07:11 AM

Sam, do you charge your recurring customers extra without asking them?

GoldBarsXXX 05-12-2013 02:04 PM

Lol you're just hurting yourself. They are a great company. Not to mention when someone bitches about MasterCard fees or visa fees you know exactly where they are on the totem pole.

We obviously sell recurring memberships as well. I really wasn't trying to be a jerk, but it seems like the same business model that you employ bit you and you are mad about it. I know Segpay to be a standup company and would guess that this is spelled out somewhere in their application process or terms. If you are correct that it isn't then I agree that there is an issue.

SegPay 05-13-2013 08:01 AM

Gold Bars,

SegPay announced its compliance with the MasterCard Payment Facilitator Model in September of 2012. We were one of the first IPSPs to comply with the program and were actually able to earn amnesty for all of our clients for their initial registration fee of $500. Your account came up for renewal in May of 2013. We announced the renewal fee on April 25, 2013 and that the $500 renewal fee would be deducted from the May 7, 2013 payout. This email notification was sent to the contact information we have on file in our system. Your Sales Director will be in touch with you to discuss how we can close out your account.

You announced the renewal fee on April 25, 2013 and I contacted you on April 25, 2013 to opt out. You didn't give me the chance. Epoch did. End of story.

This is what you said,
"We will deduct this $500 renewal fee on the May 7th payout. This renewal fee will ensure your account continues to accept MasterCard which represents over 30% of consumer transactions as well as make sure that you and SegPay are in full compliance."

GoldBarsXXX 05-13-2013 10:34 AM

This is the same as signing up to a non-recurring subscription and then emailed about an upcoming rebill. The client immediately calls in to cancel the membership. He is then rebilled.

GoldBarsXXX 06-27-2013 11:52 AM

Proof of shady business practices by SegPay.

1. I should have had the chance to opt out of that MasterCard fee just like epoch and ccbill but I didnt.
2. I never made a request to have my account terminated. I just mentioned here on gfy a while back that
I would remove them from my cascade and yet they terminated my account based on that without any
notice. I never made a formal request. I had to find out myself after 2 months when all my rebills were
gone and I had no sales.
3. I had a number of rebills and they're all gone. I just checked my htpasswd file and realized the
logins were still there. That's shady.
4. They owed me 750$ and and yet sent me only 337.82$ and defrauded me of the rest.

Know what you are getting into with these people.

bean-aid 06-27-2013 12:01 PM

Why use third party IPSP's is beyond me. This entire industry is set on it, yet, makes no sense at all.

Carry on... I do think you got taken advantage of for another $500 then to boot, like most do, they canned your account for bitching.

In order to be a shady middle man or woman one must be devoid of a conscience.

Sorry you got screwed out of 500 bucks it pains me to read these stories but understand that the state and condition of middlemenry in the world today is dire.

The parasites are scrambling in all directions wrongfully thinking they can resume the economy by approval declining off the backs of real revenue generators like us real adult merchants.

Like most of their reasoning it is flawed, parasitic, and perfunctory at best.

We were here before them and will be here long after them...humans deserve to not have their hard earned sales *processed* and sold back to them at 15-20% interest.
