How big of a tip to leave
Saw this on yahoo.
Guy orders 85 pizzas and leaves a $10 dollar tip. I think $50 would have been appropriate. Too little? Too much? http://www.bikinipage.com/gfy/pizzatip.jpg Yahoo Tip Article |
The tip debate!
Def. should be 50+. |
Office pizza day we get 12-14 XL pizzas, we tip the guy $30. I'd say $10 on 85 pizzas is pretty shitty.
|
Any real man would round it to 1500. Nice and clean.
|
thats a terrible tip for some very pricey pizzas.

I usually tip $7-$8 for 1 pizza, plus they usually get all or part of delivery charge. So I would say $10 for 85 pizzas should receive a "Nigga Please" response. :2 cents:

PREFACE: I worked in the restaurant industry, I know how it is...
Tip is OPTIONAL, be lucky I was nice enough to tip, let alone bitch because I didn't tip enough... Want to be paid for your work? Complain to your boss about a raise or start a petition to change laws so restaurant owners are required to pay all employees minimum wage... Don't start pushing extra costs onto me. I am normally a good tipper, there's many times I tip MORE then the cost of my item... But if you're gonna bitch at me about how much I tip, you're not gonna get a tip then, nor the future. |
Was the bad tipper's name Ron Weiner?
He was the subject of an epic past GFY thread on the subject: Bad Fucking Tippers http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ll...jhi3o1_500.jpg :stoned ADG |

50 bucks is reasonable.
i doubt anyone would expect 10% on a delivery bill. this guy is a douchebag.... |
yeah that blows, he only had to make one stop but still took him a lot longer to load 85 pizzas and it is probably not one person paying for it but the biz so why not and if it was one person bitch can afford it anyway haha

im sick of these greedy entitled americans complaining about tips
|
When I worked at a business where we bought a lot of pizza for employees, we had a policy where we were to tip $1 a pie for deliveries of pizza. We often got 40-50 at a time, and while that is a $40-50 tip, those delivery guys always made sure our orders were right and on time.
|
man i see a lot of 2 dollar tippers on their 50 dollar restaurant bill itt.
if you are going to spend almost 1500 bucks on food at least leave a benjamin jesus christ. |

You get amazingly good customer service in Japan. While everything is expensive, there is no tipping... :2 cents:

Tips are optional anyway. |

Assume the average meal at this place is $20. Which would you rather have? A. Your meal is $20 and you tip the server whatever you want based on how good you felt the server was so assume you tip 20% your meal would be $24. B. There are no tips and your meal just costs $24 and you hope you get good service and if you don't your only means of showing your dissatisfaction is to complain. To me, in the end, you are going to pay for the tip one way or another. Personally, I would like to have some control over it. |

15-20% is standard :thumbsup

%10. not $10, wtf.

why does a pizza cost $17.21?

Depends on the situation. It is a business, so money creates loyalty.
5-10% (whatever it takes to round up the bill) on delivery and 10-20% on bars / restaurants that have great service and you are planning to come back. People being so cheap it really pays off, especially on bars around here. |

Can someone give me a good reason? |

A: expect him to tip you 20% B: give him a 20% discount |

The tipping culture is the US is completely retarded and NOT an example of how it should work. |
between 50 and 100, id say 75.
|
Ok $10 was shitty for that many pizzas but for ordering delivery I don't tip much unless It's easy, like food is $17, I slip them a 20 etc, I usually only order 1 meal though. If in a restaurant I do ~10%.
The thing here in Sweden is that the servers and delivery guys/gals have pretty decent wages so they never really expect tip but are ofc glad when they get. Average delivery guy I'd say is a bit over $30k per year here. |

Probably more than they get from most orders. Sometimes i don't even get the chance to tip them. I usually pay upfront via internet and when they arrive they quickly hand me the food and jump back on their scooter before i can give them a tip. They don't expect you to tip them. |
You guys do realize this is a delivery, your not at a restaurant being served. $50. is plenty....
|
It's interesting to read the different thoughts on this.
In reality if the delivery person made an extra $50 for likely less than an hours worth of work,he did very well that night. And to the people that say the tipping culture in the US is effed up.. I agree completely. It is. |
