I work a lot with little girls who are struggling with self image issues. Most all of them think they are fat even tho they are almost always far from it. When I do have a kid that is actually fat chances are they have gone through years of being called names and the like and they are only pre-teens yet.

All I can do it show them that you don't have to wait to be thing to have a life. I don't deal with sex or love with them because they are too young but the sad fact is that many fat little girls will stay within themselves for the rest of their lives because all they ever hear is kids and then grownups who should know better using such abusive language towards them.

I've actually been the "fat chick with the emotional problem" and self hatred is a terrible thing. It took me some serious time and energy to get back to some semblence of normalcy.

From 394lbs to 254lbs and dropping.....steadily and happily. And in that, I've discovered something: If you are shallow enough to pass me by because of what I look like, then you're too shallow for me.
