I never saw Bored 2 Death, but Hung was a good show. That's too bad.

uno 12-20-2011 05:30 PM

Hung and Bored to Death were awesome, especially the latter. I've never seen How to Make It in America.

Pipecrew 12-20-2011 05:33 PM

Hung was great. The other 2 were super weak IMO

CamTraffic 12-20-2011 05:34 PM

Ah shit! I love "hung"

BSleazy 12-20-2011 05:37 PM

I really like How To Make It In America. Never watched the other two.

Caligari 12-20-2011 05:46 PM

Bored To Death was pretty funny.

How often does HBO actually cancel shows, I thought it was very rare.

I thought the guy that did Deadwood pulled that show himself (I loved that show)

You may be right. All I know is they didn't finish it.

Yeah. It sucked that it was stopped.

But when it was on...it had me saying the word "cocksucker" every minute. lol

Pseudonymous 12-20-2011 06:29 PM

How To Make It In America was cancelled?! UGHHH! Hung I liked also but I can understand because it wasn't going anywhere and his wife found out. I hadn't seen Bored 2 Death?

With all the television out there, its amazing these shows dont' stay on. Ridiculous

docputer 12-20-2011 06:42 PM

Thomas Jane was nominated for best actor for Hung last week. Thought maybe HBO would keep the show for another year.

That guy made saying the word cocksucker a work of art. It is kind of like Samuel L. Jackson and the phrase Mother Fucker.

From what I understand HBO canceled Deadwood, but then told the creator/producer that they would be open to making 1 or 2 movies to fully wrap it up. I have not read anything about if or when those are actually going to happen.

I thought I had read that the creator of Deadwood (David Milch) canceled it himself to work on what he was convinced was gonna be a BIGGER show on HBO: "John From Cincinnati"
Unfortunately that show was very uninteresting and only aired from June to August of 2007

That might be the case. I remember reading an interview with Timothy Olyphant (the guy that played Bullock) and he said that the producer called him and said the show was ending after the current season, but that they hoped to do a movie or two in order to wrap it up, but I don't remember for certain if it was canceled or if he just decided to end it. It might have been a case where they were only going to offer him a half season to finish it up and he decided to go a different route. I would still love to see a movie that wraps the whole story up.

That show was a horrible abortion. The only thing going for it was Al Bundy.

marlboroack 12-20-2011 07:45 PM

Pretty sure they want us to work and make more money than to be happy to have decent entertainment.

Diomed 12-20-2011 07:51 PM

Those shows were just OK to watch,

definitely nothing spectacular or incredible.

Just look at it like this,

if HBO is cancelling those mediocre shows, just imagine what they will be replaced with ;)

More shows like Game of Thrones, Sopranos, Curb, etc.

Bring on the new changes!

NaughtyVisions 12-20-2011 07:53 PM

Goddamn it. I loved Hung. The things I hated about it were that the episodes were too fucking short (less than 30 min), and that there was only 10 episodes in a season.

Honestly, Hung is about the only reason I have HBO. Guess I can cut down on my FiOS bill now.

I absolutely love the fact that they reshot a scene in post prod where Samuel L said something along the lines of, "I'm sick and tired of these mother fuckin snakes on this motherfuckin plane"

You're missing out on a shitload of other great programming on HBO. :2 cents:

I've always figured as much, but I have to take into consideration what the wife would like. As stupid as it may sound, we do most things together, including watching TV at night. I managed to get her into Hung, not sure if she'd be into a lot of the other stuff.

My wife will watch the following(not in any particular order): House, Hung, Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels, Boardwalk Empire, American Horror Story, Always Sunny in Philadelphia and possibly a few more. The rest of the time she subjects me to 20 year old eps of COPS or Campus PD.

They aren't going to replace half hour shows with any of them. Maybe they'll bring back Eastbound and Down.

They are already rolling out a new show with Dustin Hoffman,

I'm sure they have plenty of others in the works as well to replace the time slots they have just freed up.

VikingMan 12-20-2011 08:51 PM

Hung was one of the worst shows I have ever seen.

If I ever run into Samuel Jackson I'm going to ask him to call me a mother fucker. It would be like having your portrait drawn by one of the masters or playing horse with Jordan.

We just had to put a pet down and will probably have to put another down in short time and the scene in Luck where they put down the horse had us both sobbing like little girls.

absolutely. Him reading "Go the F to Sleep" was one of the most amazing things i've ever heard.

Hung was kind of funny at the start, but it never seemed like they had a plan with it. The last 6 eps were painfully boring.

NETbilling 12-21-2011 12:24 AM

Anyone seen Enlightened? I am not sure what to make of it.... weird

V_RocKs 12-21-2011 04:39 AM

yeah fuck that! that i have been saying that since 6 feet under and sopranos ended
nothing as good came along since then
i was really digging Hung, something different
i just hope they ll put some closure to it, with a finale or something.

bronco67 12-21-2011 07:02 AM

I can agree on Hung. I stopped watching it one week about a year ago, and didn't care much if I ever watched it again.

I hope they don't cancel Enlightened. That was a great one.

loreen 12-21-2011 07:23 AM

I like Bored 2 Death, love that HBO vibe in it :)
