I know someone in our Manila office who enjoys eating balut. They seem to love it there. It's steamed fertilized duck eggs.

JamesGw 08-02-2011 08:40 AM

I honestly don't eat anything that strange. Unfortunately.

sperbonzo 08-02-2011 08:40 AM

Does sucking raw quail eggs out the shell with a drop of Soy Sauce count?

Because I LOVE those.... have it at least once a month.

I've had these and though you seem to be able to eat the bones, I don't. Are you supposed to eat the bones? There really isn't much meat on 'em JFK and I don't know you as a light eater.

Jarmusch 08-02-2011 11:53 AM

Well, I eat a bunch of almonds every day. Not that there's anything strange about it, it's just that personally I don't know anyone else who eats them.

Conch salad is awesome. I had some while drunk at the Nassau port. Few fisherman came back and made the local cops some. Some how I got some and fell in love with it. :1orglaugh

JosephFM 08-02-2011 12:04 PM

I eat either an octopus salad or conch sandwich for lunch every friday. It's strange for most people but here in Puerto Rico that's normal food.

amateurbfs 08-02-2011 12:08 PM

I have ceviche at least once a month, maybe strange? Its just pickled fish basically.

Yeah, I eat them for the healthy fats too. I was referring to my 'offline' circle, as I got the idea of eating them from the interwebs. Sadly, everyone in my offline circles seems to have the 'fat makes you fat and causes heart attacks' mentality and get worried and alarmed when they find out you eat more than 5 whole eggs a week. :upsidedow

countdown to kidney failure for Phil 4 years and counting...

Your doctor that 'ok's' all your shit is as much as a quack as you are. What do you think happens when you take all those growth hormones when you have any cancer in your family genes?

all pot shots aside, I truly hope you stop taking supplements for everything. There is no argument, link or video you can come up with that can replace your organs.

Strange and on a regular basis? Hmm.. I had some seaweed last night. Has good vitamins A and C with an aroma and flavor that reminds you, not surprisingly, of the ocean. I think I can work a little of that into a lot of things I cook. Not too strange for a lot of the world, but for me it's new and strange still.

Thats funny I had a slice of it when I was making seaweed soup!!! :)

If you care to know, seaweed soup is YUM YUM and it's easy to make. A few slides of seaweed + lettuces (optional and its tasty) + meat of your choice (marinated, ps. pork makes the soup sweeter so ground pork is a good choice) + boiled with a pot of water with chicken broth cube for about 25mins + salt and you are all set. :thumbsup

p.s. People always say that seaweed is something that you cant have none but you cant have too much.
