Senate Repeals Don't Ask, Don't Tell
 

By a vote of 65 to 31 this afternoon, the Senate voted to repeal the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.


Now, if they can get their shit together and pass the Zadroga Bill this lame duck session won't seem so lame.

They didn't have DADT when I was in, if they thought you were gay, they shipped you out. My daughter just got out of the Navy and she believes that it's going to have lots of problems. I'm for lifting the ban on gays serving, but I know there will be problems.

Why would they reinstate the draft. It's easier to bankrupt the middle class and leave the poor the choice to serve since their won't be any other jobs anyway.

The weaking effect you describe will have minimal impact at best. The military-industrial complex is far too large and powerful to let a couple of fags get in the way.

How will this devide them. You do realize that gays are currently and have served in the military. My grandfather served in WWII and he told me he knew there were gay guys serving. He didn't give a shit as long as they did their job.

There was a draft in my lifetime too, but we have better technology and turn people away from enlisting. Even when I got my 4f, or whatever they called it back then, I was told that unless there was WWIII there was no chance of me being called.

That's not the point, no one is talking about "parading" or even "announcing". There have been thousands of gay soldiers kicked out of the military simply because they were out in public with their partner, and a goody two shoes ahole reported it.
