is bw free these days? nakedhosting 100mbps with each server
just looked a this promotion they are having, i remember when a 100Mbps connection would be 10k/mo.
http://nakedhosting.com/promo/ people think this is a good thing, but pay attention to the reason the tubes are here, because of low bandwidth prices thoughts? tubes will keep getting better when bandwidth is free |
You can get 100 Mbps non-managed for around $100 / month pretty easily these days. But if you go below that double check for a catch. Even some offering it for around the $100 price point may have some hidden issues.
One big thing to check for is whether or not the host is in some way throttling connections per thread. I saw one host who throttled each single connection to 50K/s. At that speed video streams will tend to constantly have to buffer. Make sure to check for this and other stuff. :thumbsup |
unlimited bandwidth was here since the start of the internet

This should not be surprising. Technology does not remain stagnant.
Fiber optic technology is rapidly increasing in speed and capability. Providers that update their equipment on a regular basis can give their customers great deals. Right now Win2k8 Dual core servers w/ a 1Gbps connection (on the external Internet port) are readily available. (I'm paying less than $120/month for that kind of setup btw.) |

if we are not at the point where the price of bandwidth no longer matters, its very close if hosts can make money off of deals like that |
Bandwidth is something you shouldn't ever have to worry about. Just like you don't pay attention to your internet usage.

10 tb at http://securedservers.com promo is on now. Might have to contact Chris to get it.

Great promo.
This year alone I've dealt with five or six hosts for various reasons and they always tie for first place in my book. Mojo and Reflected are also great ... I've always had equally great experiences with all three of them. For the Naked competitor who says most hosts hope you do not use all that is alloted, I can say that Naked is not that way. They threw in another 25 MBPS for free on one of my servers when I started hitting the ceiling. I've always referred people to them without using an affiliate link so they probably wanted to return the favor ... so customers of theirs, please don't contact them thinking they'll do the same. |

from reading the board, there are a few hosts that stand out that keep getting good reviews, natnet, mojohost, nakedhosting so i guess what i was trying to say is that they dont seem like a fly-by-night group that would make an offer like that and not back it up |
There are four main points which make up a good hosting company.
1. Datacenter (is it a hall closet, or a facility worth of the worlds biggest companies?) 2. Bandwidth (is it congested, oversold and saturated trash, or the real deal?) 3. Server Hardware (are you being sold ancient dragons who have been lurking in a DC since 1999, or getting servers that are either brand new or less than a year old, and are they warrantied?) 4. Support/Management (do you get real 24/7/365 support from people who know what they're doing, or is there one real tech, and a 24/7/365 team of front-liner noobs who do nothing but say "We'll forward this to someone who knows what they're doing and will complete this ticket in 7-10 business days) I keep reminding people of this. You simply will not get a reliable server with a bajillion mbps of good bandwidth in a great datacenter with an awesome support team for pennies. As consumers of web hosting, you guys (and gals) need to not only shop with your wallet but also with your heads and look at the big picture. What is it worth to get a 100mbps server for $99 if in the end it's going to cost you thousands due to hidden caveats and poor uptime? I'm not saying everyone has to or can afford to pay top dollar for the most elite hosting plan out there, but I urge you all to remember that in the end, it will truly behoove you to ignore gimmicky pitches to get the world for $5, and look at all the angles to derive what the best deal truly is. :2 cents: |
the low price entry level dedicateds usually have too little RAM, so maybe the companies are hoping you will want to upgrade and pay a much higher price for some extra RAM :2 cents:
|
this thread is very misleading. natnet mojohost and nakedhosting aren't the only good options.
Phatservers/Amerinoc are where it's at. Anything over their virtuals have 100mbps unmetered also since you all are pimping your hosts and forgot to mention they weren't the only ones offering this. |

I've been with them a little over a year and it's cheap and great (two things which are usually hard to find together in hosting). |

weird, NakedHosting is in NatNat's data center and won't come close to that deal.
