Not a catch, but something to think about if you like using these features.

Aww hell, those things just get in the way anyway. :winkwink: Better just to do it yourself the old school way if you are managing your own box or find someone else who can.

Agreed! I am a 10 year customer of NakedHosting. I think it's safe to say they're one of the best choices for a host.

Great promo! :thumbsup

No need to do it the old school way or find someone else. These servers are fully managed. All you have to do for anything server related is submit a tech ticket. Our tech staff will handle it for you:)

Are you referring to the port? The port is actually not shared and independent of each other at the switch level and the router. We are not cramming servers on until people start bitching. You can count on that:)

I was just looking at their specs and it is a little confusing, at the top it says:

"Managed Dedicated Servers - MDS10 - 10TB Entry Managed Server
CPU: Intel Dual Core E2180 2.0 Ghz DDR Memory: 1024MB Hard Drive: 250GB SATA 5 IP's 100MBPS Unmetered Bandwidth (Limited Time Only) 100mbit Uplink"

which shows 10TB and 100Mbps unmetered in the same sentence, which is it?

and then in the drop downs, it shows 100Mbps unmetered as being a $200 extra charge

is that just a glitch in the order form?

The memory is king when it comes to a web server.

I jumped on a $69 managed server promo they had awhile ago. I have since added 1 gig of memory for $10 a month and just added a few more IPs. So I am currently paying $89 and I personally have had some issue with them and their support. While I have been frustrated with them over some things I have found that they have compensated me for some of the issues, like down time.

Earlier this week I added the 5 IPs to my server and they did a reboot. Instead of checking to make sure my sites were up and running they did nothing. Of course alot of my sites went down for some reason. That day I just decided to check on things before I left for the day, if I hadn't my sites would have been down for alot longer than the 3 hours they were down. They did get my sites up and running quickly after I notified them. They also credited me for a full month of hosting for the inconvenience. I am satisfied with the outcome and plan on staying with them.

Maybe it's good for your 100 hits/day blog tho..

I'm sure everyones experience with companies varies depending on the situation. But i've received outstanding support from this network - above and beyond. Todd (one of the techs) has solved server issues (including php programming issues!) i've had for years that other companies would charge me fee to troubleshoot.

Ask for Todd! great company in my opinion.

I agree with you there. Todd is excellent.
But from my experience of having a couple of shared accounts there, some of the other techs are not so good as Todd. In fact they can be a bit 'trigger happy' when doing sweeping changes on the servers.
Which is the reason I decided not to go dedicated with them.

The plan normally comes with 10TB only. In the description it states 100MBPS Unmetered Bandwidth (Limited Time Only) 100mbit Uplink for the promo to show that is what you will be receiving :)

Hi Kacy,

So just to be clear it comes with 10,000 gigs of bandwith / transfer. And the port speed of the server is: 100megs.

Do you have an ip to test and say a 100-500 meg test file to d/l?

Thanks

Todd

Hi Todd,

The promo actually includes 100Mbits unmetered on a 100Mbit port.

I do have a speed test d/l. Shoot me over an email and I will get you the link:)

here are people who actually read books sometimes :winkwink:

IMHO, speaking about 100mbs unmetered, to be able to fully utilize 100mbs
line you need at least x3430 with at least 4 GB RAM but I might be wrong.

About the deal, it's ok but nothing special, nowdays.
