Why is it ok for the yanks to have nukes?
 

I'm not asking this question to piss with anyone, I just dont understand why the yanks can have nukes and other countries cant without bush wanting to go to war with them. I dont know much about this nuke thing at all thats why I am asking.

I think its like "he who has the most firepower makes the rules" or something like that.

There are countries that have them now, and they want to keep any more countries from acquiring them.

It has to do with the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty that was signed in 1970. Basically they don't want this power to spread to any more countries then it already has, because of the potential for disaster.

The ones that have the power can keep it, but no one else can get it, basically.

we didn't like it when Indian and Pakistan went nuc a few years back, and I'm sure we won't like it when the next lil country goes nuc capable on us...

I think everytime a country does it, it just increases the chances that someone's gonna be a freak and actually use one...

Actually the ones that have the weapons before the treaty was signed are also suppose to work on disarming, which has been done to some respect.

Ergo...we know the devestating power and outcome of these weapons. SInce we are generally recognized as the most powerful and "civilized" country in the world we take it upon oirselves to make sure an irresponsible country will not get hold of these kinds of weapons.

During the fall of USSR more than few countries probably gained access to nuclear weapons. Skopjia was the blackmarket of nuclear products in balcans. Don't fool yourself,the nuclear knowledge/technology has been around for several decades...it's not the magic from the sky anymore and might be in plenty of evil hands. BOOM!

Pretty much the same deal as using the sob story of starving children in these poor countries and sending billions to help.. when we in the U.S. also have starving children and they don't seem to give a rat's ass about it.

We can have kids going to bed hungry in the U.S. but it's not right to have it in other countries...

The usa is in a unique position. Even though we are bullies etc, we have done an awful lot helping other countries in war, thru aide, etc. Basically the usa is a peacful nation of law. If we werent, then canada and south america would have been taken over years ago.

If there was to be a strike from a nuke, there would be a counter-stirke and so on and so on, in the end, we'd all be dead or really close to it wondering "what is the fucking point?"...

basically, No one wins at all, we all loose, there is only 1 earth to live on, once this is gone, its gone and we die out as the human race after a few billion years here.

Man's nature is self destrucitve from what some claim, Sounds that way in this case.

I wish that the leaders that want to trash it all take a nice long look at the ordinary people that just want to make it thru the day, have a little enjoyment out of life and generally have a good time in between the time working \away from their families and what they love to do what ever that is.

Embracing one another's culture isnt that bad of a thing at all, in fact it makes you more well rounded as a person and gives you a better understanding of yourself.

I don't know where you live, but if you think that in 15 years, the geopolitical situation will have changed then you are full of shit. The only opponent the USA may have is China, but they are too preoccupied selling their export goods to bother the USA. And if they took over the world, who would buy their stuff? So, what do we have left?
South America: Give me a break, without the USA and all their natives south American using western union to send money back to their countries... Look at Venezuela, they have one of the richest soil in the world and you've got people dying of hunger and eating garbage.
Africa: It's going to take at least 100+ years to get them back on their feet, when they understand that they will not improve their situation by slaughtering each other, then there will be hope for them.
