One of my favs from a way back.

Nailed it.

Yup, that song came out, everyone liked it, then it disappeared. It's one of those "forgotten" tunes that when I play it for people, they instantly remember it and love it.

I don't know if it got any airtime in the US, but it's one of my favorite tunes of all time.

Came out when I was in high school.

These were more my style back in middle school and high school.

Sticky, good song, but the Kinks still get regular airplay on a lot of radio stations.

I'm talking songs that are all but forgotten, that were terrific back in the day.

What about this for one hit 80's bands...'Til Tuesday with Aimee Mann on bass and lead vocals:



Of course the 80's (for those who were there), got kicked off with artists like Gary Numan - he had a few hits, but this was by far his biggest, "In Cars"...



On of my faves from the 80's was Dale Bozzio's band "Missing Persons" - they had a small string of hits, but came and went very quickly:



I was at the 83' US Festival, when Missing Persons played this medley (damn, hard to believe that was 25 years ago - I still remember it like yesterday):

Loved the '83 us fest. Wasn't there but have watched video of it many times.

Well I wasn't saying it was bad or anything. You asked "Any 80's rock afficionados remember this group? ". Well I graduated high school in 1987 so I think that qualifies me as being old enough to remember the 80's and this song. I don't. If it had airplay on the radio I'm 100% sure I would to have had to heard it at least once I just can't rememebr doing so.

I never claimed it had airplay everywhere. Maybe it didn't make it onto stations where you live, I don't know. Stranger things have happened.

It is very possible that a lot of the songs in this thread won't have been heard by quite a few people. Hell there's at least one that I haven't heard before.

Never gave much thought to the replacements until I heard their first record a few years ago...that threw me for a loop, ended up being one of the best punks records I've ever heard

I liked that song, but it was actually pre-New Wave, from the 70's...so for that, I give you Plastic Betrand - "Ca Plane Pour Moi":



Back to the 80's...

The Plimsouls doing, "A Million Miles Away":



Speaking of a million miles, in that same vein (if it hasn't been stabbed too many times), one of the Bay Area's local bands that enjoyed some fame in the early 90's, Cracker, doing "Low" (yes, that's Sarah Bernheardt):



Suzanne Vega is one of my all time favorite female performers - here is her famous "Tom's Diner" remix, again from the 80's:



Of course, that led to Suzanne Vega performing, "In A Lonely Place", with the Smithereens:



I saw the Smithereens (again) a few weeks ago, and it was magical - of course they performed, "Blood and Roses":



Which brings us to The Stranglers, performing "Golden Brown";
