I was busy with the CRUE and GNR!

CDSmith 06-30-2008 05:51 PM

Another 1979'er but close enough, and it's a good tune...

Audio only.

Only those two? For a whole entire decade? Come on. I was into those two bands (and still am) but I also paid attention to a ton of other stuff that was coming out back then.

I crave the diversity.

What a great thread but the most definate best song award so far goes to ADG for How Soon Is Now, one of my top 10 fave songs of all time without a doubt (plus I aways fancied the bird in the video).

The cookie monster lyrics never did much for me.

1988 - Pursuit of happiness

yys 07-08-2008 12:49 PM

Here's a couple early 80's classics. I was still a young tyke when these came out but I can remember trying to rock out with my uncle and his friends to them. For some reason they kept going outside to smoke even though they could smoke in the house :pimp didn't figure that out for a few more years.

Chilliwack Gone, Gone, Gone

Golden Earring - Twilight Zone

yys 07-08-2008 12:57 PM

Damn edit timeline. Just to finish off that last post; I wanted to mention that around that time these new things called Ghetto Blasters came out. My uncle bought a big JVC one and then everyone just hung out in the backyard as there was no need to be tethered to the record player for tunes. Oh how the times have a changed.

pocketkangaroo 07-08-2008 01:09 PM

Have any of you guys seen the new lead singer to Journey? He's filipino and eerily similar to a young Steve Perry.

Steve Perry (God)

Arnel Pineda

Kudles 07-08-2008 05:48 PM

Wow I haven't heard that in awhile!

CDSmith 07-08-2008 07:18 PM

Another Canadian classic, this one from 1980... The Kings -- This beat goes on/switchin' to glide

Socks 07-08-2008 07:21 PM

How about the greatest Canadian song ever?

More than a feeling.. From Crowbar's ONLY album, "The Best Of" :D

Great song, but it's called "OH what a feeling", not "more than a feeling" (which was by Boston) and it's from 1971 so it's wayy out of the 80's.

But I found you a live version from a bar gig they once did...

Btw, they had more than one album. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowbar_(Canadian_band)
