anybody here make $250K+ per year?

Does anyone here make $250K+ per year?

..if you do.. get ready to pay *higher taxes* --made payable to Hillary, Obama & Company.

:upsidedow

When they were on stage the other night in their friendly little "debate," they both promised to raise taxes on people making more than $250k.

You see, they both have already promised to give away your tax money to illegal aliens, welfare fraudsters, labor unions, and all the special interests who are supporting them with votes.

Get ready to pay.

You thought you were gonna get away supporting your $1.1 trillion dollar annual war budget without paying for some of it?

I thought you loved that shit man

Nails 02-06-2008 01:54 AM

since 95% of gfy doesn't even make 40k you can understand why so many are democrats.

Daruma 02-06-2008 02:00 AM

why worry about it - either move offshore or move your money offshore..

stev0 02-06-2008 02:01 AM

Have you already forgot about how much cash Bush blew on his useless war in Iraq? Pretty hard to republicans to rag on democrats for spending after that...

We could have saved alot of money by not fighting Hitler too. I wonder how differently the world would look today if we had made that choice.

Maybe the Iraq war will one day pay dividends. Maybe yes, maybe no.

There was a big post war economic boom after WWII. Maybe the same thing will happen when the dust settles in Iraq, causing a Middle East renaissance. Maybe oil prices will stabilize or drop a bit.

Let's hope so.

One thing is for sure: the Dems social plans will NEVER pay dividends. Handouts will always lead to more poverty. The poverty pimps will continue to bleed the system for all eternity. A trillion dollars for a war? LOL. Decades of those big government handouts and their further destruction of our country's competitiveness will make a trillion dollars look like chump change.

It's about time you paid for that war in Iraq you support.

The bill is now due sucker. :1orglaugh

flashfire 02-06-2008 02:08 AM

are you comparing WWII to the Iraq war...sorry you lose all cred right there. Where is Bin Laden? I thought he was the one who attacked to the US. If you are making over 250k you should pay more taxes and buy fewer hummers...the cars and the ones you get downtown

spunkmaster 02-06-2008 02:15 AM

What a bunch of fucking idiots !

The Iraq war has brought the states several billion $$ in extra taxes the last 5 years.

How you say ?

1) Gas prices !

Most states have a gas tax that is a % of the price per gallon so the higher
the price per gallon the more tax revenue they take in.

Several States are taking in 2-3 Billion $ more per year as a result of the higher gas prices.

2) Gov't Spending !

The Democrats made Bush spend about $400 Billion more the last 5 years then the republicans wanted to spend and to get them to vote for the war spending Bush agreed to spending more on domestic programs.

No one feels bad for people who make $250k a year regularly. Yea it might suck for someone who had the year of their life and wont ever be close again but for the most part no one gives a fuck about the rich man's plight.

Socks 02-06-2008 02:38 AM

Gas prices up close to 60% in 2007.. Sure is stabilizing, and fast!!

RomaCash 02-06-2008 02:51 AM

How about Medicare Part D? This is something Bush campaigned on in 2000. Went into effect in 2006. Gonna cost us what? An extra $750 billion through its first 10 years. Stop Republican Handouts!

Socks 02-06-2008 02:54 AM

nono Colin, it's going to cost China $750 billion, and you will have to pay back about $3.5 trillion by the time you get around to paying it off.. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

You entered the war when it was more than obvious that the Russians were winning big time, the Amercians did absolutely nothing to decide Germany's fate, its plain and simple, they just sped up the process.

I don't know if it's funny or sad that the Americans think that they won the WW2.

This is the problem. The Republican party has moved to being as big of spenders as Democrats on social programs. They want the senior voters. Government spending typically increases at about 3% per year. We've had some increases of 7% per year recently which is really unsustainable.

Raising expenses in excess of tax receipts is the same as increasing taxes.

Medicare Part D was a huge mistake. We can end the war. Try and take prescriptions away from old people though. This is an expense we will end up paying for the next 50 years. Americans should be 10x angrier at Bush for pushing Medicare Part D than for the Iraq war.

When you look at the US budget you see it is dominated by Defense, Medicare, Health and Social Security. The baby boomers are reaching retirement so the second part of that equation is going to increase every year.

Boobzooka 02-06-2008 03:43 AM

I am very willing to pay higher taxes if it goes to health care - because your wallet isn't a measure of your worth - education - even though I don't have any children of my own (and never will) - scientific research - stem cells, alternate energy, space exploration, etc. but I struggle every year come April, because so much of it goes to the war machine. I try to live a conscientious life, and I feel writing that check is the only immoral thing I do. But if you don't pay all they demand, they put you in prison. So I do it, and I suppose that makes me a coward.

I'd like to pay less for both. I like the idea in the "old days" when the family took care of their elderly and not the state.

I pay my taxes so I don't go to prison either. If I had it my way I'd cut defense and social program (social security, health, medicare) spending by half. Course, no politician who wants to get re-elected could ever do this.

lol I know. I think the yanks get lies taught to them during school or something, because it isn't a coinsadence that everywhere in the world apart from the USA knows that russia was destroying germany.

IllTestYourGirls 02-06-2008 06:20 AM

Then you should donate to free clinics and hospitals :thumbsup Do not make everyone else pay taxes because you are failing to donate on your own.

Another flaw in this whole "health care" debate is that everyone is talking about health insurance. Health insurance is not health care.

I totally agree with you. April sucks, knowing how much is going to the war machine. But the truth of the matter is the main reason the government wants higher taxes is to pay the interest on the loans from China. Remember when the US borrows from China the collateral is you and I.

StuartD 02-06-2008 07:01 AM

well, since people making $250k/year are paying virtually no taxes now.... while people making average incomes are paying more in taxes than what they bring home....

it seems fair, no?

Do you not think the trillions of dollars spent is a little too high a price to pay for a maybe yes/maybe no outcome?

If you are self employed and making that much per year you obviously need a professional to come in and kick you in your ass while explaining finances to you.
Why would you not be incorporated?
Why would you not be drawing a salary that pays you enough to be comfortable?
Why in the hell would you be pocketing 250k+ per year to live off of?
Why would you not have other assets also sheltered?

There are so many damn loopholes for those with money to lower their taxes that in reality it really fucking does not matter much in the wash. Sure it sucks that the more you earn the more you should pay, yes it does seem like it is a penalty for making money but boohoo; look around and see where you got to make your money at.

Honestly I am so damn sick of our economy right now and our debt. I would actually like to see a whole lot more shit taxed. No one will do it though since it would be near political suicide or at very least some of the industries that need some extra pressure have to powerful of lobbies.

i dont make 250k, but im with u all the way. the govt is a poor spender, making half assed programs that cost 5x more than they would privately. the less they tax the better for the nation.

fuck him dude. He is pro war .. and now when bill of war is due, its paining in his ass.

I am not an economist, but I can see the last two wars affecting US citizens for long .. I hope they increase tax rates for people making over $60k, instead of $250k, so that more and more people know the taste of war.

Hey wait there for a second.

Our private sector contracts have not been doing so damn well, nor have been that cheap if you have not been paying much attention. You know companies like haliburton and so forth. They love to overcharge, make people think it is the US and not a private firm, and cost us the tax payers more than what government workers would of been paid.

Hell I would be hard pressed to name one program aside from some charter schools that have done it cheaper or better than the goverments version of the program did. I am very down with the whole current school systems destruction.

Drake 02-06-2008 08:22 AM

I'm not for increasing taxes nor for a war that has to be paid for. If the tax is to pay for the war (instead of merely redistributing the wealth), I say fine, since it effects people who can actually pay it (you're at the 98th percentile of income earners if you earn $200k+ per year). The middle-class cannot afford to pay it since they're already struggling.

Which brings us to the stimulus package. We're a credit based society. People are in enormous debt. How is giving everybody $600 going to make things better? People aren't going to save and invest that money. They're going to spend it and increase their debt even further. It may bring some brief economic activity, but that's not economic growth - and economic growth makes a healthy economy.

Legendary Samir - BANNED FOR LIFE 02-06-2008 08:25 AM
