A personal question to all my Peeps on GFY...Need your Inputs.

If you had a decent budget on bringing a pretty well known band/act for your wedding reception. Who would be your top ten.
Elton John, he wants like 2 mil. LOL
We just had Linkin park play at our club, they were awesome, not for a wedding though.
I'm not talking Bon Jovi. or anyone that big.
My brother had Stevie B, and that was cool because we all grew up on his music back in the 80s.
Any Ideas?

Thank you. :thumbsup

Clark Miller 08-12-2007 11:20 PM

The Funky Meters would be fun, I'll bet they aren't too expensive

heymatty 08-12-2007 11:22 PM

At a wedding Lionel Richie and a piano would be ok.

Pornwolf 08-12-2007 11:22 PM

Knowing the age and the listening preferences of the wedding party would help or else I'm gonna have to say Suzy Q or Expose since they like Stevie B.

cashbot 08-12-2007 11:23 PM

I'd go for Ice T

Not bad, and at least you know his daughter won't show up, she'll still be in rehab. :helpme

J/K..Not a bad choice.

He plays both fun and slow jams. :thumbsup

I remember them as well, but we need something fresher.

I know...:winkwink:

Mid 30s.

Semi-Retired-Dave 08-12-2007 11:33 PM

What about britney spears,
I know she can use the money, and I know how to contact her.

Hmm...that would be strange but could be good for her.

jimb 08-12-2007 11:36 PM

I love their music, been listening to them for awhile.

Perfect for a wedding, and they can't be too expensive.

Jim

You could try for a big act like Lionel but he costs almost as much as Elton.

Not many acts that charge reasonable prices can fill a large amount of time and entertain all of the ages that will be at that reception so the best thing to do is to book several hit acts from the 80's and 90's. You can get 10 for the cost of one Nickleback or Bizkit.

Get an A-Ha, A Dexy's Midnight Runners, Thompson Twins, Frankie Goes To Hollywood type band to fill a couple of hours.

And make the special Bride and Groom dance singer someone like Ryan Adams who can give them 2 killer ballads, K-Ci and Jo jo with thier All My Life and Lately (I just spoke to them, they would be interested of course), Chris Deburgh with his Lady In Red song, or Extreme for their More Than Words cut that makes all the women swoon.

EVERYBODY will be talking about that reception for years to come.

I think K-Ci and Jo jo, but other than that one hit, not sure what else they have to entertain everyone, Ryan Adams doesn't do weddings anymore, or bryan adams, one of them.

So maybe K-Ci and Jo jo, and Boyz 11 Men.
If you have contact to K-Ci and Jo jo, can you send it to me. :thumbsup

Pornwolf 08-12-2007 11:49 PM

Sure, I'll hit you tomorrow with it.

They can probably give you some of their harder hits from when they were with Jodeci or maybe even reunite for the wedding ;)

Nice choices BTW!

Beyonce or Shakira :-)

RP Fade 08-13-2007 12:36 AM

my friend has Alabina and the Gypsy Kings at his wedding in France a few years back and it was off the hook..I'm sure it wasn't cheap and not everyone's style of music but it was a middle-eastern wedding so everyone loved it.

BoyAlley 08-13-2007 10:51 AM

Ok breeder ok. You REALLY wanna make your wife happy with your music choice, I have the PERFECT performer for you.

She's a legend, performs magnificently with just herself on a piano (recently did a whole tour like that), and her music will be known and loved by everyone in attendance:

Carol King

She should be reasonably priced as well.

"You make me feel like a natural woman"
"You've got a friend"
the list goes on and on.........

Tough to consider pleasing the most amount of people with one group.

True, I think a DJ would still have to be there as well.

Dear David:

Thank you for contacting us. The price for Boyz II Men for isolated, corporate or private engagements is @ 40-$45,000 (inclusive of our fee) PLUS expenses (travel, hotel 2 nights for act and crew, sound, lights, ground, production, etc). If your event is a fundraiser or the date routes well, price might be a little flexible, but we can't promise anything.
We look forward to working with you!
