am not sure if they shave or not but am just giving you some stats here anyway usually i convert 1:10 with around 300 visitors aday but 2 days ago my stats said i send 600+ and ratio of 1:20

i found this odd because i know my traffic well and there is noway i would send it double the traffic and at the same time ratio 1:20

it seems like they shave traffic by half so therefor ratio is 1:10 with 300 rather then double the traffic and ratio 1:20

it just the fact.

I think he's talking about all webmasters as a whole, not just you. TONS of people have been using them, and as such, most surfers have seen at least 1 ad for them.. once that happens, the ratios go down. It's not rocket science. :thumbsup

Thus, everyone's ratios should fall some, because its not as "fresh" as it used to be.

Well, the bottom line is that unless you go with someone using a third party biller (ccbill, ibill, jettis), you have NO WAY of knowing or proving shaving is going on short of getting a lawyer. (Even then it would be a long shot.)

The 3rd party billers can be a pain and not as slick sometimes, but if you need to have that doubt removed-- thats the way.

The answer to any statistic you bring up is what everyone else said-- they fluctuate....you had an off day....happens to all of us...etc etc. I don't always like it, but I tend to stick with the sponsors using outside billing just for this reason. :Graucho

I gotta agree. They seem honest as hell. My ratio sucked ass yesterday, but it does that once in a while.

Ok.. my freeezine ratios also hit the toilet.. I can't seem to do anything to bring them up.

I emailed, but no response thus far (2 days).

This is not a fluctuation. It's been several days. I'm not going to point fingers at shaving, since there are any number of reasons why ratio's could go down.. oversaturation, server errors, whatever...

HOWEVER.. I'd be interested in seeing how widespread this is. If any kind soul has ideas about strategies for making these ratio's go up, I'd be happy to hear them.

Clearly, the people who signed on UNDER me are not having ANY problems making conversions... At least, not according to the stats *I* see.

Which would imply that there something amiss on your end.

You really should post things that are true, and just because a sponsor uses a 3rd party biller does not make it so they can't shave. ** UNLESS ** you can send directly to the 3rd party join page but most won't let you do that.

Who knows if they are shaving, frankly i dont care anymore. As far as iam concerned the program itself is pathetic & if you join up & go through the Ezine there is no content at all just one big fucking mass add. As soon as i checked through the site i pulled all my advertisments of my site.

I feel what they are offering is fuck all & a great way to lose bookmarked traffic. Your surfer will feel almost betrayed when they go through all the shit to sign up for this crap. Do the test & sign up yourself & check out what could possibly be the biggest load of bullshit i have ever seen in seven years of porn browsing.

It's okay to pose the question about conversions but rather impolite to phrase it as "..turning on the shaving maching" - at least that's my take.

Ratios can absolutely fluctuate all the time and you truly do need a large sampling of traffic over an extended period of time to judge them. People are saying that it's probably getting saturated - I think they're naysayers, although that eventually might happen. Look at sites like Kara's that have been up for years and years and still convert in high numbers for webmasters.

But, back to your conversions... YES, it is possible to double - or more - your traffic and get much lower conversions without it necessarily meaning anything. Sometimes, frankly, shit happens. There's no explanation, that's just how the numbers fall.

The only real way to evaluate a program is to evaluate the traffic sent to it over the course of a month. Another important factor would certainly be the sources of your traffic. If your traffic doubled, where did all the additional surfers come from?

Anyways, I always first give sponsors the benefit of the doubt. In this instance, I'm sure we'd all agree that Boss Hawg has always appeared to be on the up and up.

dude, you wouldn't notice them shaving, they would only credit you eg 8 out of 10 signups - or do you think they would just shave at certain days?

rather their database couldn't be connected to the script, i noticed that the hawgs' programs (hc, ao, feb) often have mysql errors - your hits cannot be tracked then.

2-3 days ago i also noticed a to large number of uniques tracked while the signups still stayed the same - the ratio suffered from this.

why is shaving the answer to everything?

i bet the problem is that they don't pay for duplicate email submission and after awhile all the porn surfers have already signed up

The bottom line is ratios FLUCTUATE. We are not shaving and have no reason to. The more signups you get, the more traffic you send, hence the more money we make.

Simply by sending smaller amounts of traffic you will no doubt see a bigger fluctuation every once in a while. I hear it a lot in the morning. My ratio sucks, whats going on? etc.. Since FREE programs pay on confirmed signups it may just take some people longer to confirm, or if an extra guy or two dont confirm your ratio will look much worse on one day if you send minimal traffic...Just by the nature of numbers...

To touch on the over saturation topic, it is simply an EXCUSE. Ratios are still very positive overall. Remember to take what you read on these boards with a grain of salt. I saw a thread on another board and 5 people said we didnt convert for them and simply said we suck. Those 5 people sent a combined 20 signups and none sent enough traffic to actually gauge anything yet they are still quick to say we suck. Amazing.

On a side note we have roughly 20 new sites coming out in 2 weeks or so that are currently being beta tested :)

zed...This is a business my friend..its all based on margins and we do what we need to payout the $1 per email. What we have in our members area is OUR problem as we DONT take deductions and if they dont like they can cancel. So if they cancel we lose the subscriber right away without getting chances to email them. We are adding some new video content soon though (thanks lars @ steadybucks.com) to the members areas.
