My 9 year old Nephew just got spammed on myspace... ARS

Guys... i know, I know... its money and ya look the other way. But 90% of the kids on myspace are under 18. They have to say the are 18 to be able to sign up. You guys are spamming a bunch of underage kids... wtf? He didnt opt in and only has computer access when he comes to my place. I set him up a page last time here was here and now I find porn spam in it? Spacash did the same to him last week. wft guys? You wonder why we get a bad name, yet you continue to allow your affiliates to send porn to kids.

Not trying to be an asshole, but why do you think they say you have to be 18 years of age to sign up. To avoid this shit.

Spunky 12-24-2005 12:27 PM

Complain to ARS..I'm sure they will do something about it

from their tos:

You further represent and warrant that you are 14 years of age or older and that your use of the MySpace.com shall not violate any applicable law or regulation.

------

Its not 18, its fucking 14.

Myspace is NOT for 9 year olds, and its not for porn either. Shame on anyone who allows either on that site.

Its a haven for underage girls and boys and nobody seems to care, even the owners who have adult dating ads on there. So as with everything on the internet, parents should watch their kids.

cherrylula 12-24-2005 12:33 PM

So ultimately any of you people on there spamming your adult stuff is showcasing it to 14 year old kids. CONGRATS on being such a great citizen of the interweb.

Alex 12-24-2005 12:35 PM

In that case i take my comment back.
it really is shitty that they spammed your newphew. But then agagin, he still isnt 14.
And with the millions of kids daily taht get it in thier email, there is not much anyone can do.

Thats a fairly silly statement..

14 year old kids like to look at playboy magazine any chance they get , does that make playboy "showcasing" to 14 year olds ?

I can understand the basic statement about not spamming adult shit on myspace, but to say its "showcasing" it to 14 year olds is stupid..

HEY seo people , you sick bastards are showcasing your adult shit on google to 14 year olds.. :1orglaugh

If any parent is letting there kid on myspace , they are idiots. If any parent alows their child to " free browse " the internet they are stupid ( unless they dont mind what their child is viewing i.e. anything )

I certainly would think PORN is the very LEAST of your concerns of what kids might find on the internet...

Promo Chicks 12-24-2005 12:42 PM

Note to self: It is bad to spam adult websites to kids that are under 18 that sign up saying they are over 18.

No shit Capt Odvious! Parents should watch their kids... how the hell do you think I found the spam? Trust me on this, the goverment is not going to show up on some parents doorstep with crimial charges and a news crew in tow.

Yes, Ive read their TOS and the 14 thing is new.. within the last 45 days. So, its still ok for people to spam myspace knowing that half the kids on there are under 18?

Look, there was no warning page, no nothing... just a halfpage ad embedded in the email so the first thing they see when they open it is some naked check with a cock in her ass. We can blame it in the parents and the parents will blame it on us.... guess who will win that battle?

Ron Bennett 12-24-2005 12:44 PM

Many of the big name adult sponsors spam directly and/and indirectly - like no kidding ...

An eye-opener to how prevalant the practice is ... the discussion about "mailers" in the Split-Infinity "drama" thread really exposes the dark underpinnings of much of the adult industry.

Ron

p.s. looking for a good webhost that has its own data center (or at leases a large portion of one) with a real physical office (the ups store doesn't count LOL!) with 24/7 staff on call ... need for both adult and non-adult stuff ... need 2 to 4 dedicated servers with a total of around 3 TB monthly (100 GB / day) bandwidth minimum and very importantly daily BACKUP (many hosts I see advertised here don't have good backup solutions) ... anyways, my email is [email protected] (when emailing about what you can offer, please be sure to use a very specific title so I see it) ... thanks!

no offense but 9 year olds shouldnt be on myspace, have you ever used it ?

A link doesn't tell us anything , what kind of spam are you referring to ? if some kid just cut that link from another page and posted it to his friends page , is it fair your calling him a spammer ? I'm not saying thats what happened , but perhaps you could "elaborate" on what this spam is , how he got it..

furthermore "spacash" did no such thing.. if you mean he clicked a link to spacash from somewhere , that could be true , there are millions of ways to get a link , but " Spacash did the same to him last week" is completely false.. spacash doesn't use myspace and certainly didnt send your 9 year old nephew a thing unless he signed up himself..

I would be more worried about the fact your nephew is being encouraged to sign up for things he isn't eligible for ( and for good reason )

Sin_Vraal 12-24-2005 12:53 PM

You do know the ENTIRE premis behind myspace is mail right?

myspace probably sold out the email list or more likely mailed it themselves.

Again, I thought I made it clear. I did a page for him. All his pics from growing up and all. Not for his person use at all. He does not have computer access at all, except when he is here and cant even got on my computers without my 100% supervison. I went in to update his page today since he is going to be here tomorrow When doing so.... I found this spam and a spacash spam in his email box. Crazy that I even have to defend this... period. No warning page, no notifcation that adult content was inside... a halfpage add of a naked chick taking it in the ass embedded in the email so its viewable on open. Yeah, thats all ok.... it must be the parents fault. :disgust

Dont try to stop the movement..

Its just Porn naked woman and sex etc.

Its much better than all the violence he watches on all the new cartoons or tv.

My parents let me look at nude woman all the time its natural when we were in europe on the beach everyone was topless etc.

Nude chicks.. yeah sure.. not a huge deal. Girls taking it in the ass, totally different. Plus, shouldnt there be an option? No warning, nothing? The Canspam rules dont apply to Myspace?

Sosa 12-24-2005 01:06 PM

a 9 year old shouldn't be on myspace in the first place.

I do agree about the warning.

Kids now and days are having sex very young. hell I remember when I was 9 i touched a girls pussy just because I wanted to check it out. from curiousity
I cant imagine what they are doing now.

but if you shelter people they will just find a way to rebel

I would rather my daughter or son see a girl taking it in the ass then someone getting there head blown off because it looks kewl :2 cents:

well i would have to know alot more details .. what age is the profile you made for him ??

You found a spacash email in his email or in his myspace mail ?

post the actual email , yes you have to defend yourself when you say SPACASH SENT ME THIS.. and spacash clearly DIDNT send you this...

some moron most likely sent it to you , maybe he was an affiliate maybe he was just a hater , but we cant know without seeing the FULL EMAIL , and spacash certainly cant do anything about it if you dont notify them or us of the affiliate and the full headers , and some more details like the age of the profile..

i totally get where your coming from but i think your pointing the fingers at the wrong people..

And i still think its crazy you would put a 9 year olds profile on myspace ( just my opinion) regardless of how he views it , there are some sick people , who knows if your next door neighbour ooks at that stuff etc ) not a good idea. i would have that on a closed network..

Its easy to do , create another profile on your computer , open the browser ooptions security level and only allow it to ONE domain, the domain you have the stuff on and nothing else.. easy shmeezie

yeah, its just porn... especially the double anal and gagging sites they have now.

That sounds really bad Roger. Nude women is one thing, but come on, with the porn out there nowdays gimme a break. We're not just talking nipples and buttcracks.

myspace really should have an adults only section. I bet they get sued or something real soon if they don't clean that site up.

SmokeyTheBear 12-24-2005 01:20 PM

everyone here know sick sick stuff is only one click away on myspace, i dont know how you could possibly watch over a kid on myspace.. people can ask to add you , and do for whatever reason , and the pics arent usually very "kid" friendly.. i dont think posting anything to do with kids is very healthy.. or even letting them view it unless you plan on sending them out of the room every time you click the mouse and calling them back in after you have previewed the page..

I would rather them censor all the gangster shootem up shit that we glorify and the violence and hate the media continues to fill the kids heads with. If you really think about it its a natural act wether its vanilla sex or hardcore

If your not hurting someone who cares.

Kids are very smart now and days lets educate them instead of trying to shelter them from everyhting.

Well, im sure it was an affiliate of both spacash and ars and of course, they cant police them all. I did send an email to spacash letting them know as well as ars. But again, the Goverment is NOT going ot come after some affiliate for the most part.. they will go after the program. The buck stops somewhere ya know?

And a myspace profile is no different then an aol, yahoo, msn or whatever profile. Theres sickos on all of them and to think myspace is somehow worse then the other options out there does not make sense.... better, no, but hardly worse. My Newphew has zero access to it..... none. His age is marked at 14..... its cleat is was just a blind email sent by some moron affiliate in both cases... no landing page... nothing. Very careless and in the end, the sponsor pays the price in most cases.

My only real gripe here is that there was no Can-spam guidelines... a hpa embeded in the email on open... and no warning page... at all. Spam all ya want for all I care, but at least, follow the rules.

Quickdraw 12-24-2005 01:30 PM

RogerV, I agree with what you are saying. Sex is much better than violence any time. And yes kids will certainly find a way to rebel when the thumb on their head leaves an indentation(or just for the sake of rebelling :))

Shooting--
The lack of control by adult and non adult marketers alike has made me reign in control on what my kids access on the web and email(of course, it seems most parents don't care as the computer makes for a cheap babysitter)
They have their own domains, but don't really use them, yet. The oldest is 8, and the email on the name is setup and functioning, but only allows email from their Mom, but usually she(Mom) calls them vs. using the mail.
Not sure where that came from, but maybe you could buy the kid his own domain(in the future it could be his calling card) vs. setting up a profile on a free space?

Totally NOT the point. Regardless if it is less harmful or not... its the LAW! To date there isnt any hard laws againts violence as you mentioned. However, theres very clear laws on porn and distributing it to minors and even clearer laws that define how adult materials should be sent via email. I hope that isnt your line of defence should you be popped for spaming kids Roger. Your Honor.... "I was only trying to educate the yong lads......" Somehow, I just dont see that holding up.

Maybe they email from a country that doesn't have a can-spam act..

I'm not here to defend emailing , but if your from nigeria , who are we to tell you how you can email and how not to email.. its not against the law to send an email to someone you dont know with an hpa in nigeria .. we certainly dont follow nigerian laws..

Myspace mail.

SmokeyTheBear 12-24-2005 01:42 PM

either way i dont think any program should allow non can-spam compliant email period .. not because of the legality , but because of the ethics.

but thats why we need to know ALL the details before we slam people/companies..

for all we know maybe the person using that name before was 19 and then their profile got deleted and your nephews profile got made under the same name ?

SmokeyTheBear 12-24-2005 01:44 PM

like lets say im a dirty old man and my name is profile.myspace.com/maniacs_nephew and i get into all sorts of dirty stuff and sign up for stuff , then my name gets deleted or i delete my name or change it to somethingelse.

then you come along make the name maniacs_nephew and wonder why you get porn stuff .. maybe the other name was signed up under a group , maybe you signed up under a group.. many reasons.. thats why its MYSPACE who fucked up..

there should be a warning to anything when someone is trying to shove shit in your face no matter what it is :2 cents:

Hell I hate to get spam or anything I didnt ask for..

would you blame a kid for entering a place where no minors are allowed and seeing things a kid should not see or would you blame the people who let him go in?
