Couple points:

Before everyone slams me - realize that I work in sales for AVN Online- not marketing. So I was not aware of this mailer. But I would like to address peoples complaints.

We do take complaints seriously. If you recieved a mail peice and do not want to get them in the future - follow the steps below. If you just want to complain - and not take the steps to stop future mailing please dont complain again!

I come from a direct response background, the company I used to work for was considered the BMG of Porn - mailing out up to 5 million hardcore mailing pieces monthly - so I do understand that people can be offended by receiving adult oriented mailings - if you do not want them - do something about it.

1. If you do not want to receive mail from AVN - send mail or e-mail to me and I will have you removed from the list. Realize that you will not receive any more mailings from AVN including AVN and AVN Online. We do not want to send anything to people who do not want it.

2. Anyone on our mailing list has at some point contacted or been in contact with AVN and has requested magazines or other info from AVN.

3. If you do not want to receive junk mail in general - go to http://www.the-dma.org/ and add your self to the do not mail list. Every DMA member is required to merge mailings against this list.

4. Come you work in porn.... your mailman already thought you were gay -- just kidding.

All of your other mail comes in a black plastic wrapper to cover up what is on it, why not with this mailer?

I understand that you dont work in the marketing dept, but perhaps you can raise this issue with the person in charge over there.

Also, its not that I dont want to receive your mailers/mag, but a little discretion goes a long way.

I've seen this complaint before - so I am not going to promise that you wont get another mailing peice. If you dont want mailings - then ask to be removed -thats the only gaurantee.

We cross sell to alot of our clients , as many work in gay and staright market.

why not address the issue, and just make it discreet

Agreed- I have not seen this piece. I will go to marketing department and have a talk with them. I'm sure there will be more discretion in the future.

Hey, I'm a real life faggot and I didn't like getting this mailer. It wasn't the least bit appropriate in my opinion.

There was already dozen of complaints about AVN mailers not beeing discrete. And now it's the people's fault ?

Corporate bullshit attittude like that just piss me off. Fuck AVN. It's not our fault, it's yours !

I remember last year when thoses issues were raised . Somebody claimed to be the bridge between webmasters and AVN . And look at that again... what a fucking mess.

Start reading what webmasters WANT. They want discreet packaging, not opt out.

Yes we will work on being more discreet... good choice.

Discreet is all we ask of AVN.

Can AVN work on merging mailers based on address - as we have attended many AVN shows over the years and registered attendees under our company name and address, we now get mailers for each name - often times up to 20 of the same mailer to our office - STACKS.

Can AVN please only send 1-2 mailers per ADDRESS rather than name?

Good points - but obviously there is a need for more discretion or people would not be so pissed off.

Just because someone doesn't like fucking in the streets or in front of people doesn't mean they are chicken shits. When I fuck I fuck at home or in a place where everyone can't see because I respect people and myself. Sending out a magazine with sex all over the cover (or whatever) and it's not covered is taking away my right to be private. It's not giving ME the option of keeping my sex life in the bedroom or sex business away from children or anyone else who may be around me at the time. They are making the decision for ME and it's not their decision to make. I am an atheist not a Christian and I still don't like people knowing about what I do in the privacy of my own home. If you want to fuck in the streets and walk up to strangers and shove your sex life in their face because you think it makes you a "REAL" person, then fine go ahead but don't tell me I am a chicken shit for having morals and not pushing my personal life on other people.

Discrete packaging for adult-related material through the mail is extremely hard for us to believe that people would want it. Thats why Playboy and every other major adult magazine does it, including one of AVN's biggest competitors: XBiz. Who would've thought people don't want to broadcast the porn part of their lives to everyone.

Cool I am opting out of AVN ... Everything to do with them if they cannot use discretion and only give me a choice to opt out. I am going to fix my hosts file on my machine now so no more AVN correspondances come through my machine and all mail from AVN thats not discreet will be turned over to my district attorney to see what my local laws are.
