Whats the BEST LAPTOP make?
 

Looking at buying a new laptop.. old one is an NEC but looking to buy a new one now... what do you guys have and what brand should i be looking at?

is DELL any good?

ive heard alot of good things about TOSHIBA...

processor and screen clarity are high on my list :)

any suggestions? what good? what should i stay away from? :helpme

I have a hi-end Dell and a Hi-End Toshiba...

both 17" widescreens with 256meg pci xpress video.. they are both really good

I like my Sager if you want a powerfull laptop. It is heavy but built great.

Dell laptops dont last. I worked for a company that bought thousands of them for employees. It got so bad that dell had someone in our company to keep fixing them. They went to IBM and have been happy ever since.

i like the new line of HP's.

Toshiba. Sony has the sharpest looking displays.

Dell sucks. Apple Powerbook is the best by far.

If you want stylish, light, and battery life, you can't go past an asus.
I just went through the process of buying for one. They kick ass over any other option - and i went over Apple, Dell, IBM, Toshiba, Compaq/HP, Alienware, Sony.

I have a laptop w/ DVD Burner / wifi / bluetooth / 1280x768 / usb / firewire / memory card reader (v. cool) / lan / TV out / svideo out / 80gb hdd / 750mb ram / INBUILT wireless logitech mouse / inbuilt 1.3MP webcam / camera / mic / up to 7 hours battery

weighs only 1.6KG, and less than an inch thick.
Amazing.

dell is good but does have heat issues i havent experienced on my toshiba
basicly after about 9months it started to over heat. lucky for me it was still under warrenty. when i called about it they said it was a common issue and fixed it. to bad they didnt extend the warrenty

yeh dell seems to be good value for money but im hesistant on there quality

I've been using Dell's for over 12 years and never had one die on me. I haul them everywhere I go without a problem. Now that IBMs are supposedly being made in China, I'd be worried about declining quality.

all of toshibas parts are made in Japan i think so that is surely a good thing

I have a new Toshiba and it sucks gonads. I used to be Sony and IBM - when my Sony broke the power connector, I needed to buy something on the spot. Toshiba had the best value for the money but I would not get it again. I'd go back to Sony or IBM. Sony is the coolest and has the best features and is a lot cheaper than the IBM but Sony makes laptops with poor durability. Nonetheless they are the coolest.

Also I really don't like the widescreen. It's hard to fit all you need on the screen with a screwed up aspect ratio.

I like Sony Vaio's but have to admit my ancient Toshiba Satellite although now redundant was very very reliable for a long time.

why? what happened?

We had a Toshiba, and the screen messed up (went black). We took it back, and swapped it for another, and had them open the package at the counter to make sure it was ok. It was messed up, too. The screen had a line through it and kept changing colors. We ended up getting a Sony Vaio and haven't had a single problem since.

My new Toshiba Sucks ass, been broken twice in 4 months. Bad serivce Too. They used to be good but now are shit.

PowerBook G4

Powerbook G4, hands down.

toshiba toughbook was awesome for me, I have an acer ferrari now, lots of cool features and its red.

Overpriced. I like how they created themselves a niche in the gaming PC arena -- Nerdy gamers actually think they have the best gaming PC on the block because of the aesthetic/price value of an Alienware.

what kind of toshibas are we talking about? Tecra, satellites, protege's?
