well, a lot of germans came to joinville on the 2nd world war
the city architecture is just like germany.. very civilized people too

definitivately a 1st world city

90% of the people living there came from germans

why did u ask about this particular city?

Jer 06-07-2004 04:35 PM

I'm not near Viracopos right now, but I'll be near it from June 22th to August 2th.

Why are you asking? :)

Jer 06-07-2004 04:36 PM

I've never been to Joinville, wanna visit it soon

Amp 06-07-2004 04:55 PM

ah, was just curious what that city is like. The guy that made my surfboard is in Joinville. (it's being cleared at customs in Miami right now... should be here in a few more days)

he's got a german name, so what you said about the german stuff makes sense now too....

Amp 06-07-2004 04:58 PM

sounds like a nice place.... would love to visit Brazil sometime.

Jer 06-07-2004 05:11 PM

holy crap! That's a pretty big city. Maybe I won't go there.... hehehe.... don't like going to big cities anymore except when I have to fly to San Francisco.

is there any cool small places near the beach that you would recommend?

Jer 06-07-2004 05:16 PM

The Airport of Viracopos is in Campinas, a city near São Paulo. I was born in São Paulo and lived there till June 2003, when I married and moved to Fortaleza... far away from São Paulo and Joinville.

a lot.. you would be amazed...

Jer 06-07-2004 05:19 PM

That's the biggest city on that State (the population is around 500k)

Jer 06-07-2004 05:22 PM

Nice small places near the beach? You're talking about almost the whole brazilian coast :)

yeah, that's pretty big. The population of this entire island is like, 140k or something. (tourists not included)

Amp 06-07-2004 05:27 PM

damn... was just checking out the flight path. It's like, 29 hours travel time.... lol

I didn't figure they would go direct from the islands to there. Gotta go to San Francisco to Washington, then on in.

that's a shitload of flying.

Goose 06-07-2004 05:30 PM

looks like a nice little city...not bad for living, or does the majority of germans suck??

Jer 06-07-2004 05:30 PM

29 hours? Damn it!

Jer 06-07-2004 05:32 PM

Fortaleza (where I'm) is 3 hours and 15 minutes from São Paulo and something like 5 hours to Joinville.

Amp 06-07-2004 05:33 PM

I just did a generic search from Maui to Rio.... i don't know where anything is in Brazil.

Amp 06-07-2004 05:34 PM

this sort of helps me.... found this on Google

Jer 06-07-2004 05:36 PM

Fortaleza is great for windsurf and kitesurf

Amp 06-07-2004 05:37 PM

is there alot of bugs there? i hate bugs

Jer 06-07-2004 05:38 PM

Joinville is "under" Curitiba

Jer 06-07-2004 05:39 PM

Not that many bugs... I hate bugs too

Amp here is a closer solution for now to get to know the people at least. There is/was quite a strong Brazillian community on Oahu that used to meet for parties etc quite often

OzMan, that picture must be at least 15 years old :winkwink:

yeah, I thought he was here over on O'ahu or something.... but the DHL tracking shows it shipped from Joinville.

MattO 06-07-2004 06:03 PM

Jer, how are computer prices down there?

I have to get my mother in law a computer (she's here right now but going back to Rio soon) and should I get one here for her to bring back or are there online Brazillian places with good deals?

Where do you get your gear through?
