If you buy a computer there for her she'll have to pay 60% customs tax on it. It's not funny :( |
I bought my PC from Dell Brazil in 2000. I'll buy a new computer in July, but can't buy from Dell again. Fucking expensive.

cool that might work... I could put together a decent tower for under 500 (it's just for email and shit) then she could pick up a monitor there or I could ship one later |
17" flat screen CRT monitor costs around US$215.
|
I got my dell on ebay, had to pay fucking 60% of the value...

http://www.ypioca.com.br/english/principal.htm One of their factories is a few miles away from my apt. |

hmmmm...... we got a sugar cane factory here about 10 miles away. Half the island is sugar cane...... :Graucho i wonder if they make it here too. ever heard of C&H Sugar? (Californian & Hawaiian) Basically, they grow the cane here, process it, ship it to California, turn it into granulated sugar, package it, ship it back, then we ship it all over the world. (wacked expensive system if ya ask me, but that's how they do it.) |

I've never seen a single sugar cane plantation in this state :eek7
I gotta find where does all this sugar cane comes from. It must be from cities far away from the beach. They produce lots of others products from the sugar cane, I've even been to a tiny factory... but damn, where do they hide the sugar cane? :winkwink: |

I guess officially cachaça is a type of rum since it is made from sugar cane. It is pure firewater to me the couple times I tried it but I'm not really a shots drinker, beer works fine. |
you can't miss the cane here.... it's everywhere. Shit is tall too. Lines the roads. Other than sugar cane, we got shitloads of pineapples and full on bamboo forests.
(and coconut trees.... they're everywhere. There's one in my front yard.) |
they harvest the cane by burning it. They'll burn a whole damn field at once. It throws black ash all over the island. We call it Hawaiian snow.... lol.... shit comes even all the way down here to Wailea.

I don't drink, but sometimes I feel like drinking a caipirinha (cachaça + ice + sugar + lemon) or other drinks with cachaça on it |

And we have coconut trees everywhere here too. I like coconut water. |
The last time I drank beer was in November 2002. Oh wait, that's not true. I bought a bottle of a german beer this year and IT SUCKED BAD. Arght.
