If you were a newbie and shy at Phoenix, after the badge swapping you were fucked

hehe - I was on a mission to fuck everyone up - I traded over 60 badges and other got in on it too - by the end 3/4 of the people at the convention had the wrong badge on.

I totally destroyed any newbies chances of knowing who the fuck they were really talking to.

hehe

Actually it was quite fun, so stop hating.

The best one for me personally was when someone I totally didn't know came up to me AS me. Quite the ice breaker.

Hey WG -- you looking for commissions ;)

I was referring more to the fact that most people have trouble acting like anything older that 15.

I believe it is because a large amount of people attending have few real friends in real life and take these conferences as a chance to interact with real people, which they rarely get to do otherwise.

This is exactly why I find conferences to be a large waste of money. Just because we peddle smut does not mean that we need to act like a bunch of overgrown irresponsible kids.

And most people that I have encountered do. There are, of course, exceptions to this and I am proud to deal with them.

I am aware this is simply a bait reply but I felt my original feelings needed further expression.

LOL man if people would only realise how much one show can expose them to the people you need to be working with in this biz you would not feel the need to make this comment.

Sure people acted silly...it's an event. There was business done as well as some playing..

Exactly, this is why it was a good thing. People would come up to me and be like, hey your not so and so, and we would start up a conversation.

At the lightspeed afterhours party the last night when they were trying to get rid of the non show attendees I was wearing poppy's badge at the time, and someone comes up to me and was like, hey your not poppy.

So I explained about the badge trading, and to confirm I was in the industry I was asked whos board GFY was.

I answered and was given the :thumbsup

haha what a crazy night.

Seems like a perfect way to get networking started and have some fun in the process! Mainstream has been doing this for years. When my Dad was with IBM they did something similar. Those damn immature children, lol!

cool1 04-05-2004 09:39 AM

Sounds like a fun time was had.
Wish I could have went. :(

gornyhuy 04-05-2004 09:39 AM

Axeman 04-05-2004 09:39 AM

just a confirmation that conventions are just a place for webmasters to go and get hammered and no serious business occurs,.
