The US is in debt to more countries than are in the alphabet - including China. China is currently issuing loans to the US in the vague hope they may be repaid on the due date :-)

When you consider one year ago 94% of all household assets in the US was the total debt owing to other nations and that situation has got worse in the last twelve months - I doubt this is a nation that has one hope in hell of going to war with anyone, despite all the hardware :-)

That's the sad bit - It's what done in their name... I suppose the reason will be "the world is a safer place without China" *g*

LittleMack 03-20-2004 10:07 PM

It is scary, I am a independent that supports the war on Terror but not so much Iraq...I agree Saddam must go.....China is another matter, with Taiwan and China relations being so tense, I think the above statement is true, we will be at war with China. We must defend Democracy at all costs. I hope Kerry will see this when he is elected President,

Only smoking cigars and no "additives" to make em sweeter :-)

The stats are in last years US Treasury report. Bush glanced at them and thought "this is not a thing I need to know".

The full Treasury report is one of the scariest financial statements I've ever seen.

"China recycles trade surplus into US Treasury bonds
American companies may have forgotten what Henry Ford propounded when he first built his Model T: If you do not pay high enough wages to your workers, they can't afford to buy your product. One simple basis for that Bush boom is that China is recycling its US$100 billion-plus trade surplus with the US back into dollars, and especially into US Treasury bonds. Almost half of the US Treasury bonds are now owned in Asia. So China is financing Bush's bold economic experiment: running two or more wars simultaneously with a huge budget and trade deficit, and equally huge tax handouts for the richest Americans.

One has to question the long-term economic rationale for China of putting its long-term assets into very low-interest bonds in a currency that has already dropped recently by a third - and is going to drop even more. It certainly makes strategic sense: if push came to shove over, for example, the Taiwan Strait, all Beijing has to do is to mention the possibility of a sell order going down the wires. It would devastate the US economy more than any nuclear strike the Chinese could manage at the moment. "

Dunno! :-)

I think you need to read the actual stuff that is published by the US Treasury - not some upbeat BS from the lying, deceitful Admin.

Last year's Treasury Report was the most extensive ever produced and "supposed" to be included in the budget last year. Needless to say Bush hid it and Greenspan complained, but was told to shut up. Time will tell - it has only got worse in the last year...

Is the US some "special case" or something?? :-)

Go to the US Treasury site and read the fucking thing from the horse's mouth - that is, assuming the retention span can last out!

Sheesh... take the effort to even look up references in *any* US media.

Now I know why some reckon the holocaust never happened!

Now that was more than a one-liner, but still contained absolutely nada content or any *actual* comment on anything about the state of "non economics" in the US. Sad!!!

Did I ever say I read the whole report? No
Did I indicate I have Greenspan's number? No

BTW.. The latter was a fucking cynical remark which was clearly taken up as a "truth" by the dumb... even sadder!!!

Hell.. learn something about *anything* before you open your mouth! :1orglaugh
