I think I need to take some action...
Against Fusker... Fusker is a tool to grab the images only off galleries, bypassing ads and everything. Ok, not new, but programs like these have been successfully fought off in the past. A quote from their site:
Quote:
So, they're harvesting pics off the people submitting to sites like mine. One www.fusker.com they tell people they no longer host the program (most likely 'cause that ran into problems with it), but they're giving away the PHP-code and list the people that use it on their site. How convenient. A sample: this is what they make of a hosted gallery at teenmegacash.com: http://www.stoppablegolem.com/index.php?query=teenmega Now why should I care? They're screwing the people listed on my site, which are the people that basically provide the content my visitors come to see. If I can lend a helping hand, please let me know, I have no problems at all playing around with their PHP in this matter. These people are stealing content, they must know they can't just get away with this. Ok, now, what should I do? Get back at these fuckers? Or just let 'em go? Some people here are under the impression messing with these servers is always bad. Now I wonder if those people are also affected by these guys at fuskers.com. I'd say get these bastards... what do you guys think? |
they have been a pain for awhile now :(
|
guess shuting down their host, didn't work :(
how about img scr, them? :winkwink: |
I don't think this is the only program doing this out there. They have been around for some time now and I don't think it is a big threat. But this is just my opinion ofcourse.
:2 cents: |
How about... uhm,.... FUCK EM REAL GOOD!!!
|
I prefer a more passive approach....
302 their hotlink to an image of goatse's gaping asshole |
wow
|
Rowan, good option, but not everybody knows how to do that, also, you need to know where the traffic is coming from.
On their site they claim to have 1 million visitors a day, I doubt that, but it could still be a threat. Programs like these are not unique, but they need to be stopped before they do start to cost us all money. Someone posted on their forum they should use a thumbnail preview 'though that would be hard bandwidth-wise'... What a looser! It's ok to steal other people's bandwidth, but hosting a thumbnail preview is too much? |
I wonder what's the sense in eliminating banners and ads from the galleries.
People that don't like them, simply don't click on them. |
polish_aristocrat: Hm... indeed... could be true. But some people don't know they're interested unless they see it. Now, I'm not talking about annoying popups, but a well placed banner could put someone to buying...
|
Their forum is some smokin I tell ya... all of 3 posts lol

BTW, I found out about these people from a report I got in my e-mail:
Quote:
I wonder if it was really fusker or my traffic that made this guy exceed his bandwidth, but still... |
:(
|
Let me be the first to say take some action and list my galleries.
Hahaha i just figured everytime you post someone says that whether it's relevant or not. :glugglug |
Maybe let your submitters to put the image on a HTML page.....
If your feeling really kind maybe a small text link under the pic...... It wouldnt hurt, and would stop this |

Deepsy1... I don't have ICQ... you can drop me an e-mail if you like...
|
It's bad because surfers will loose the join possibility, unless they enter the url that shows on the pic, but affiliates won't make $$ and webmasters will lose $$ in bandwith.
This is not new, there are lots of software to leech entire sites looking for .jpg's, but this is worse because you have the link to all the pics online. This is new but soon will be lots of free sites or 'bbs' using this. Webmasters that see an excess in bandwith usage not matching the gallery hits, should implement something like some freehosts use, i mean you can't link directly to the .jpg. |

If you can stop them do it please :thumbsup

burn them at the stake. while chanting peaceful poetry.
|
when they submit to your site .. can't you check if they allow hotlinking or not by just img src='ing 1 of the pics? if they allow hotlinking make it be like "people may be stealling your bandwth blah lah blah send them to a step by step guide how to setup .htaccess.. most prolly just have to mail their host takes 2 secs to setup.. like everyone submits to your site.. so everyone would see it .. if they descide not to do it .. then it's their own money they are loosing.
