Would you pay for a service that features most if not all sponsor hosted galleries and gives you short text descriptions for each? How about an added feature where you get small thumbs from the galleries to your specifications? Please post your opinions here.

i wouldnt need it for my setup but I am sure some people might find it usefull

Your setup looks like you use small thumbnail samples from SHGs. Would such a service interest you?

the thumbnails are easy.. ImageMagick and proper scripting :thumbsup

but it depends on the price I suppose, it could prove useful under certain circumstances. As long as it can be downloaded in a flat-text file daily or easily pulled in a standard format to update the tgp automatically.

Good idea :thumbsup but the only problem I have when thinking about this is everybody ends up with same descriptions or do you mean to supply everybody with custom descriptions..?

Basically, it will look like this format (number of pics)(short description -- you decide length)(link with your ref code)

Basically, I'd treat it like content. Custom jobs vs. "off the shelf" stuff. I do have some ideas in mind in order to prevent 'description saturation'

Or a random description pool maybe? But the drawback to that would be that the more descriptions were in the pool, the more generic they'd be.

Exactly. The value proposition here is 1) accuracy of descriptions 2) preventive measures re saturation 3) written to entice the user to click

gotta love $5 submissions. his noggin is always workin overtime on how to make more dough :-)

that's what I was thinking, but maybe a number of random description pools, so each description pool is only used by a certain number of webmasters..

Maybe there's a more passive but effective way to prevent saturation. Either way, it would be like shopping for clothes... different styles but all fit. All have to be well written though.

I've just finished writting descriptions for 3500 hosted galleries, not much fun... Don't think I'd want to do it 5 more times just for a rotation.

btw I'm doing this for a script that does hosted gallery submissions with your sponsor codes for free...

Yea, that'd be easy. Once the scripting is in place, just build on that.

I load up a list of SPH galleries into a DB and then the db updates the sites hourly and rotates shit arouns

still wouldn't you like something that you have to do next to no updating to apart from (copy&paste) input/uploading etc...?

I'm found interest in this kind of thing to be modest. Probably not
enough demand for a paid service. Especially considering there
are free services popping up.

Free = 5% of galleries with my sponsor code, 95% with yours.

And for the bigger TGPs or those that are using lots of blog/journal/messageboard traffic as add ons, custom text is key to making this work. There's definitely two markets for this.

It's a great idea, but just like Juicy, I have mine update hourly via a cron job. I'd be interested in the final product though for some other TGP sites I'm looking to start up. :thumbsup

Do the galleries have the TGP owner's code in them or yours?

I would pay to have new sponsor galleries mailed to me in a txt file with my codes already inserted (or info on where to sign up), broken down by niche. For starting up it would be a lot faster obviously but would take out the searching for new galleries too.

I just add mine to a text file and let php dish it out randomly :)

The galleries would have to have the TGP owners code in them otherwise there would be no point to it. The idea here should be to supply webmasters with a txt file something like:
15|http://www.Gallery-URL.com|Gallery Description
So you have number of pics in gallery, gallery url with your ref-code & custom gallery descriptions or off the shelf gallery descriptions. Then just copy and paste into your TGP script. :2 cents:

This solution would save so much time for the tgp webmaster. Create better clickthroughs as well.

This benefits the surfer because they have a better idea of what to expect and will bookmark the site more than a site with "blind" ie., non described links.

Benefits of a text tgp as opposed to a picture thumb-based index tgp is that you are able to fit more material in the same space and you also filter your traffic better.

This also benefits all tgp webmasters because this puts the onus on sponsors to crank out SHGs at a faster pace with fresher content than the current trend

I would consider using it, if you mamualy made all the thumbs to be high pulling... if you just used a script to make the thumbs I may as well do it myself.

From my experience, specific and accurate text links generate more click throughs than either generic descriptions (e.g. 19 toons) or those "face" shot thumbs. Face shot thumb galleries get really boring after a while and you better have your cron job up to speed cua burnout rate is high.
