I don't know you, but you're the only person I've ever "encountered" that has actually used the word "misanthropic" in a sentence - and correctly to boot! Being an admirer of magniloquent exposition, this really made my morning.
I first heard the word when listening to "Do What You Want" by my long time favorite band, Bad Religion. When I started listening to them in middle school, I had to read the lyric inserts in the CD's side by side with a dictionary, lest I were to never understand what phrases like "inchoate beatitude" or "anechoic nebula" really meant. The context of the word "misanthropic" in the song is "...a misanthropic anthropoid, with nothing to say...".

Many who you think are anon trolls are a lot bigger than you think in this industry. I have talked to many behind the scenes and in some cases they take GFY as a place of entertainment, they sling shit around to see what the response is, sadly people here have yet to learn that feeding a troll does exactly that. FEEDS THEM.
Ignore them either by simply reading what they say and completely ignoring it, or through the use of the ignore user function, and you remove ALL of their power.
As this thread states, bannings will still happen based upon the rules. Trolling is not against the rules, but it can be dealt with.No OneComment

I don't know the "history" of GFY like y'all do.
I joined in summer of 2002 because Eric had been asking me to for months. Then I posted a few times and forgot about it. Only started posting here again in 2007 when I opened claudia-marie.com and wanted to reach out to some folks.
So I have no clue about the "lc", "dark jedi", etc., etc. that I see mentioned so many times. Unless they made me a shit ton of money in this business they don't mean much to me.-Robbie

If you want to get rid of the surfers, then why don't you rename the "fucking around" board into "biz discussions" or so.
People are here to "fuck around" and that's what you get. It's a step in the right direction, though. I run a vbulletin site myself. Is there only one moderator/admin around here? That would explain why things can get out of hand so easily here. You need to run a tighter ship and get some staff.
Here's an important hint:
Most big sites have a place where people can troll as much as they want and do no harm to the rest of the site. For 4chan it's for example the random section.
Incidentally, GFY's troll section is the MAIN part of the site. You should change that if you are unhappy with how things are going.

Now since I started coming here regularly and used GFY as something to do while rendering video, I've learned the present day trolls. And I've recently discovered that the "ignore" function is awesome! So I've started back to my old ways. If a person runs their dickskinners at me and I see that they have zero way to do business with me, then I just put them on "ignore" No more feeding the trolls.
