i DO get your point about what hes trying to do - good on him for it. But as you mentioned you wanted industry related business going on here.

Trolls also do some good. Usually they are the guys who arent afraid to say something..
Most lasting trolls are not vicious. The vicious always get the boot. Most of the long lasting ones just speak the truth as they see it.
They remove the BROthink from the forum.
They are probably an affil and thus, a friend and asset to other affils.
They are really the law around here. Fuck up and they will be on ya like skiters in July.

The real problem is most of the people on the internet in general simply cannot compete in the year 2010.
Alot of people want the "old timers" back. But they left for obvious reasons. They cannot hack it in the year 2010 and so they cut their losses and closed up shop.
A businessman is a businessman very few times will a businessman walk away from a project for no reason. 99% of the time it is because it is not profitable.
and 99% of webmasters these days do not know how to make it so they are leaving.
It takes real skill now. Not just toss up a site, watch sales come in and have beers with your buddies. People are realizing this, and at the same time realizing how far behind and how much time they wasted with things that "could have been".
These are the same guys who dont like the new people making money telling them how it is. Times have changed. Get the move on.Comment

I know there are companies here making 7 figures a month. But there is a lot less of them now then there was a couple years ago, that is my point. What 90% of the people have lost, 10% of the people didn't not make up plus more. Sure a few companies are going up, but most are going down. The "old-timers", I love it! My assumption is this - and Robbie could confirm/deny but he's out rocking the house to "Fire Woman" at the moment.
1. Most people who made a shitcan of moolah in the "good old days" got out/diversified into "mainstream", investments, real estate, all of the above. What would YOU do if you made, say, 4.2 million profit between, say, 2001-2003? Exactly.
2. Spread out their reach so that their empires were, more or less, "self-sustaining" (to a point). So they now work less because the weight of their "reach" (which may include literally hundreds or even thousands of websites) allows them to. They have their own "mini-web" of stickiness that keeps them rolling in dough.
3. They flamed out on drugs/booze/BiPolar Disorder, whatever,and are now struggling to climb their way back to "the top".
4. They retired, died, got married, moved to an island, who knows.
But those who are left and posting here on GFY, I would imagine, fall into category #2, like Shap or Roald (to name a couple examples). Man, i was jackin' it to their shit ten years ago!! Props to both.
So times change, new blood comes in, fucks everything up yet keeps things lively, and so on.

At PEAK sextracker.com was tracking around 21 million uniques a day across most if not all big porn sites out there.
Just the top 10 tubes today have way more than _DOUBLE_ that. That conversion drops is natural, since there are more generic surfers seeing porn today that would never pay for it anyway...

For someone in charge (or at least the appearence of being) for a multi million dollar company you sure aren't too bright with these issues.
You can't begin to compare movies on torrents vs free porn. Free porn has tube sites, movies do not. Free porn has always been watched in the home, on the PC in privacy. Movies are watched on TVs, most of the time with multiple people in a living room, not huddled around a PC monitor in a bedroom. People also enjoy going to the movies and going the "movie experience". The cost to rent a new release movie is as low as $1, why do something illegal when you can get it legally so cheap. Using torrents is 1000x harder, subject to viruses, and non user friendly than tube sites. Some people dont want to wait forever to download a movie. Should I go on why your comparison of pirated movies vs pirated porn sucks.
So pornhub has inferrior content ?

That there is no full length mainstream tubes is also wrong. There are a few MAYOR ones in europe for example. US, I have no idea myself.

The conditions of the internet and our business have changed since 10 years ago. Just suggesting that for the good of all of us in the adult biz who post here...it might be time to make a change to keep up with the times and what is happening.
But hell, if you think it's cool to keep things like this. And apparently nobody else really gives a fuck one way or another, then I ain't gonna fight over it.
As I have now been schooled by all the smarter guys here on GFY here is what I learned:
1. Everyone of you needs non-adult industry surfers on here to make sure the board keeps you entertained.
2. Everyone of you needs non-adult industry surfers on here because GFY can't survive selling ads to sponsor programs targeted to adult webmasters only without making sure that there are NON-adult surfers here to create useless non-targeted "views"
3. Everyone of you needs non-adult industry surfers on here because let's just be honest...a lot of guys on GFY don't get much attention. And if it were only real adult industry people here there wouldn't be enough page views for all the witty repartee. But when you can post up something and have hundreds...maybe thousands of views, well by gosh you are important!

And knowing Eric, I know he has the common sense that if a person emailed him and said: "Hey, I'm just starting out and this is what I do (write blogs, program, whatever)"
Eric is not gonna say "no"
He does that NOW. This board is closed to the general public right now and you can't read it without logging in. And he is taking a close look at new registrations is what I've been told.
So NONE of that would change.
The only thing that would change would be the thousands of fake nics that are on here stirring shit.
THEY would have to say to Eric: "This is who I am and this is what I do"
Can't understand why so many folks on here are all up in arms and screaming "censorship" and "We love trolls"
This wouldn't affect an adult industry troll at all. And nobody would be censored.
And if a person comes to Eric wanting to get into the board and they try to weasel in claiming to be just starting out etc., then they better be on their best behavior until they get their adult biz rolling and can really back up their claims before they come in here and start attacking like a rabid dog.
