will76, I did not expect you to pay for it.. But you asked for the sources and I gave them to you... that you would complain and find an excuse not to check was an obvious outcome.
And will, I am very sorry, but you are very likely underestimating those other 2 out of 10 by a great deal... There are still some companies making 7 figures here, and growing month over month... |
Oh well...
I'm outta here. Heading over to the Palms Casino to see The Cult in concert at the Pearl Theater. Y'all have a good time. :pimp |
if stocktrader isnt in the biz with 15,000 posts since 2003 and no sig then he has a hell of a hobby. :)
If someone hangs here they have an interest and that alone means they prob bring a bit of something. Who the hell is gonna hang here just to troll. I bet 95% are somehow connected to the industry. My theory: The trolls are the owners of the "pornvideo.com's" of the adult biz. They just sit around and f off all day. :) But Robbie makes some points. Prob noone is going to really "talk" or be more open on a verified board. Unless it was like 10 members which GFY would not be. But I admire you're trying and you make some good points. |

i DO get your point about what hes trying to do - good on him for it. But as you mentioned you wanted industry related business going on here. Everyone just going yay good on ya and blindly following someone becuase they have a big name, isnt good for business - we need open discussion. So let people discuss! |

Trolls also do some good. Usually they are the guys who arent afraid to say something..
Most lasting trolls are not vicious. The vicious always get the boot. Most of the long lasting ones just speak the truth as they see it. They remove the BROthink from the forum. They are probably an affil and thus, a friend and asset to other affils. They are really the law around here. Fuck up and they will be on ya like skiters in July. :) |
The real problem is most of the people on the internet in general simply cannot compete in the year 2010.
Alot of people want the "old timers" back. But they left for obvious reasons. They cannot hack it in the year 2010 and so they cut their losses and closed up shop. A businessman is a businessman very few times will a businessman walk away from a project for no reason. 99% of the time it is because it is not profitable. and 99% of webmasters these days do not know how to make it so they are leaving. It takes real skill now. Not just toss up a site, watch sales come in and have beers with your buddies. People are realizing this, and at the same time realizing how far behind and how much time they wasted with things that "could have been". These are the same guys who dont like the new people making money telling them how it is. Times have changed. Get the move on. |
The way some of you guys are with the "remember when" it is pretty pathetic. Time to move on. Wait until the middle class of china and india start to fill up the net and drive traffic costs through the roof in the next 5 years.
The good days are over, it takes real work and skill. Some of you just dont get it and it is awesome to laugh at you. |

I said 2 out of 20. I know there are companies here making 7 figures a month. But there is a lot less of them now then there was a couple years ago, that is my point. What 90% of the people have lost, 10% of the people didn't not make up plus more. Sure a few companies are going up, but most are going down. Overall porn sales are down, you need to provide more than a couple reports I can't read to convince me otherwise. |
Once again my man Vjo kicks it with Super Sensical Posts. Hey-OOOOO!
The "old-timers", I love it! My assumption is this - and Robbie could confirm/deny but he's out rocking the house to "Fire Woman" at the moment. 1. Most people who made a shitcan of moolah in the "good old days" got out/diversified into "mainstream", investments, real estate, all of the above. What would YOU do if you made, say, 4.2 million profit between, say, 2001-2003? Exactly. 2. Spread out their reach so that their empires were, more or less, "self-sustaining" (to a point). So they now work less because the weight of their "reach" (which may include literally hundreds or even thousands of websites) allows them to. They have their own "mini-web" of stickiness that keeps them rolling in dough. 3. They flamed out on drugs/booze/BiPolar Disorder, whatever, and are now struggling to climb their way back to "the top". 4. They retired, died, got married, moved to an island, who knows. But those who are left and posting here on GFY, I would imagine, fall into category #2, like Shap or Roald (to name a couple examples). Man, i was jackin' it to their shit ten years ago!! Props to both. :) So times change, new blood comes in, fucks everything up yet keeps things lively, and so on. Carry on wayward sons. Peace out. |

will76, this is where you are wrong.. I know financials of many many companies... And there have always been very few true million dollar companies around, and most of them are still here...
Most of the programs that closed up shop for example were SMALL TIME sales wise... just because they can brag does not mean they are huge. |

Was over posting pirate pics and nonsense in the "Who shot Steve Lightspeed" thread. Or something like that. :) Outside painting all day so I have an excuse. :) |
LOOL Twice a year since GFY started we have this thread.
1) Fact It's not your website and is run how the owners wish it to be. Im sure you be pissed if someone asked you to change your site to suit them. 2) It's still here and people still pay for add space so they must make $$ to do so. 3) If you dont like it dont log on |

Didn't DirtyD go to jail because of shooting minors, and for producing porn in a state where it is forbidden? |

Why is Lionsgate making a killing although there are full movie torrents? At PEAK sextracker.com was tracking around 21 million uniques a day across most if not all big porn sites out there. Just the top 10 tubes today have way more than _DOUBLE_ that. That conversion drops is natural, since there are more generic surfers seeing porn today that would never pay for it anyway... Also, just take a look at livejasmin... it has MORE traffic than PornHub. But oh right, they are evil since they are buying traffic from tubes, I forgot... |

This is correct! I cannot be bothered to post threads at the momentdue to the twat wanker trolls. Its bad business! I bet there are hundreds of people wanting to post threads asking simple questions that some of the GFYers could answer & help them out, but the trolls stop them wanting to do this. Why look a twat because of a twat! A comment about a photo or a model is ok whether its a good or bad post. However, to entertain idiots posting stupid remarks is just obsurd. Eric, The real trolls should be banned :pimp |

Gimme a break on the producing porn in an illegal state. Tell that to everyone in Florida. Oh and FYI.. its illegal to produce porn in Cali unless you have a permit to film... lets line up and see how many people here have one. |

I like trolls.
year after year, this years troll explains how I have no business. Then they promptly move onto their career in fast food. they've been harmless for 13yrs now |

I said, overall across the entire industry porn sales are down. Some companies are making the same, a few are making more, but the vast majority are making less. |

You can't begin to compare movies on torrents vs free porn. Free porn has tube sites, movies do not. Free porn has always been watched in the home, on the PC in privacy. Movies are watched on TVs, most of the time with multiple people in a living room, not huddled around a PC monitor in a bedroom. People also enjoy going to the movies and going the "movie experience". The cost to rent a new release movie is as low as $1, why do something illegal when you can get it legally so cheap. Using torrents is 1000x harder, subject to viruses, and non user friendly than tube sites. Some people dont want to wait forever to download a movie. Should I go on why your comparison of pirated movies vs pirated porn sucks. So pornhub has inferrior content ? :winkwink: increase in traffic does not = increase in sales. I don't care how many billions of hits tube sites have, over all there is less porn sales today. period. I attribute that just as much to people's credit cards being maxed out, limits being reduced, cards being turned off, etc. to it being from the ease an increase of free porn. you can pay me $200 for that info. thanks. |

My opinion... Take it or leave it. |

That there is no full length mainstream tubes is also wrong. There are a few MAYOR ones in europe for example. US, I have no idea myself. I am a bit confused as to what you are saying, it sounds to me like you are saying its cheap to buy good mainstream movies, but there is no such delivery method for porn, and somehow thats the tubes fault? I'm confused. Maybe I am stupid :/ |
The Cult were great last night.
While y'all were STILL fighting, I was drinking a couple of screwdrivers at The Palms and then watching the concert. And yes, I still believe that this place should be adult biz people ONLY. And no, I don't believe the trolls have to leave. As long as he actually is in the business an idiot like candyflip has every right to come on here and spew uninformed stupidity all day long. I have no problem with that. Candyflip is a peer of mine. I'm sure if we ever met in real life there would be a fist fight...but after I beat him down...I'd help him back up because he is actually in the adult business and is my colleague in a warped way. But a person who is NOT in this business, but comes over from surfer and pirate forums to stir shit and gather intel on us? FUCK THEM. Anyway, the screwdrivers were delicious. The Cult ROCKED. And the arena was chock full of fake tit 30 something milfs with tattoos wearing leather. Good times! |

But about this thread, here's the thing: Being "in the business". Okay, what about that ONE GUY, who's a small-time webmaster from, say, Kansas. He makes maybe $500 a month doing this part-time. He comes on here to check things out, etc. Should he be banned? What's his 'role" in the "industry"? Just saying. What about someone who just writes blog descriptions? Anyway, I do agree the trolling should be less and the business-talk more but actually corraling these wild sheeple may be too much for anyone to deal with. |

The conditions of the internet and our business have changed since 10 years ago. Just suggesting that for the good of all of us in the adult biz who post here...it might be time to make a change to keep up with the times and what is happening. But hell, if you think it's cool to keep things like this. And apparently nobody else really gives a fuck one way or another, then I ain't gonna fight over it. As I have now been schooled by all the smarter guys here on GFY here is what I learned: 1. Everyone of you needs non-adult industry surfers on here to make sure the board keeps you entertained. 2. Everyone of you needs non-adult industry surfers on here because GFY can't survive selling ads to sponsor programs targeted to adult webmasters only without making sure that there are NON-adult surfers here to create useless non-targeted "views" 3. Everyone of you needs non-adult industry surfers on here because let's just be honest...a lot of guys on GFY don't get much attention. And if it were only real adult industry people here there wouldn't be enough page views for all the witty repartee. But when you can post up something and have hundreds...maybe thousands of views, well by gosh you are important! Okay. I got it. I asked Eric publicly to PLEASE clean the joint up. He is ignoring me...which means that you are right and he ain't gonna do it. There isn't any crime in asking. :) |

That's all related to the business. Designers, programmers, blog writers...all of them. I've known Eric since the mid 90's and he knows everybody in this business pretty much. And knowing Eric, I know he has the common sense that if a person emailed him and said: "Hey, I'm just starting out and this is what I do (write blogs, program, whatever)" Eric is not gonna say "no" He does that NOW. This board is closed to the general public right now and you can't read it without logging in. And he is taking a close look at new registrations is what I've been told. So NONE of that would change. The only thing that would change would be the thousands of fake nics that are on here stirring shit. THEY would have to say to Eric: "This is who I am and this is what I do" Can't understand why so many folks on here are all up in arms and screaming "censorship" and "We love trolls" This wouldn't affect an adult industry troll at all. And nobody would be censored. And if a person comes to Eric wanting to get into the board and they try to weasel in claiming to be just starting out etc., then they better be on their best behavior until they get their adult biz rolling and can really back up their claims before they come in here and start attacking like a rabid dog. But I suppose the majority on here just don't want to see that happen. :( |

LOL |
Robbie, why don't you reply with your list of surfers. Not users you disagree with and don't like, but purely surfers. We can start there...
Oh yea, remember to post proof |
Quote:
And I already said...I don't have any reason to want to ban someone I don't "like" or disagree with. If you guys don't want to take it down to adult biz only and leave it wide open for the gideongalleries of the world then so be it. You work for the company and obviously by your smart ass comment to me about "post proof" you've made your position clear. This is your house. I made a suggestion to clean it up a bit. You said no. End of story. |
