Too bad the UK doesn't have common law marriage, or you could tell her you're already married to her

We did try it once before a very long time ago when I was in my early 20s and at the time I saved up 650 GBP which was supposed to be for the wedding but I wanted a motorcycle and ended up using the money for it Dont think she ever forgave me for it either cause she always brings it up every so often

Marry her. It's been 25 years. You've already proven that you're in for the long haul!

If you've already mixed your finances, then there is no reason not to. If you haven't yet mixed your finances, there still really isn't any reason not to, but there is more to think about.

If you've been living like a married couple just go ahead and make it official.

Not sure on that one, I thought they did. After being together for 2 years or something.

But fuck knows, you could just deny knowing her if you split up

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governme...es/DG_10026937

Cohabitation - living together

There are over four million couples living together in England and Wales in cohabitation. Although cohabitants are now given legal protection in several areas, they and their families have significantly fewer rights and responsibilities than people who are married or who have formed a civil partnership.

Most people think that, after they've been living with their partner for a couple of years, they become 'common law husband and wife' with the same rights as married couples. This is not the case. In fact, couples who live together have hardly any of the same rights as married couples or civil partners.

There is no such thing as ‘common law marriage’.

Dont know if you can call it love after 25 years tbh. When you have been with somebody for that long it just becomes "habit" being with each other, but saying that it would be very strange if she wasent around

and u wanna marry her? only reason you are with her is probably cause you are afraid of being alone.. which is a reason why many couples stay together.. they dont think they can do better...

I was certainly in love with her when we first met. I dont know if you have ever had a long term relationship but it happens to a lot of couples. You get so used to them being around. I also would not say that I was afraid of being on my own because we have split up before, and I lived on my own which I did enjoy, but I was a lot younger when it happened. Its her that wants to marry me Im not sure I want to get married

No kidding... now your parents or you get to spend all this unnecessary money on one day to make her feel special, and then you go back to your lives and live like you have been for the last how many years... except now, your legally together. Hope it works out, because if it doesn't, you just gone and made it a whole lot more interesting....

If you get married now, you'll end up getting divorced in two years. Happens all the time. You have no one to blame but yourself.

You have been with her 25 years and aren't already sure enough about your future with her to commit to marriage?

If you do ask her then I suggest leaving out the bit on how you don't know if it is love after 25 years. If I heard that line it would be a deal breaker for me.
