Hands down: The BEST phone on the market...
...is the HTC EVO 4G. I just bought it today. I reviewed every single smartphone on the market currently (at ATT, Verizon, Tmobile and Sprint), including the Samsung Epic which was just released yesterday. The EVO is blazing fast, it's got a 4.3" gorgeous screen, 720p video recording, HDMI out, a bazillion apps, I can do all my technical work on it easily (ssh/ftp/remote desktop/IM, etc) and with the 3500mAh battery I'm getting, I'll be able to run it on full burn for over a day. I'm pretty stoked! Also, the fact that the "everything" plan on Sprint is $80/mo, compared to $100 on Tmobile and over $100 on Verizon or ATT. |

				 | What made you go for the Evo vs the Epic? Was it the slightly larger screen or some of the other features? The Evo of course has a 4.3" vs 4.0" screen but the Epic has a physical keyboard and better quality screen- Super Amoled vs LCD for the Evo. There are a handful of other differences as well including the UI being HTC Sense on the Evo vs MotoBlur on the Epic. And the Evo has also been upgraded to Android 2.2 now. I really like my HTC Evo. I get so much use out of it for business and personal use. I purchased it release day on June 4th. But I am findiing it a little hard to get used to on screen text input. The order of the softkeys on the bottom are different on the Epic too Menu-Home-Back-Search on the Epic vs what I consider a more natural Home-Menu-Back-Search on the Evo. I have to go check the Epic out at Radio Shack or the Sprint store to make my own comparison. |

Namely, to play the 720p video that it can record through your TV. iPhone4 probably has the single best screen I've ever seen as far as all out crispness is concerned. But, AT&T is known for spotty and oversaturated coverage areas, and their "everything" plan costs wayyyy more. Just as far as phones go, I prefer the EVO because I'm a big fan of Android and it's marketplace, and I love the HTC/Android combined user experience. Quote:

				 | Nice looking phone... ! I used to have one of the first HTC's back in 2005. It was a fat clunky thing that slid open to reveal a qwerty-ish keyboard. IT had a fugly screen and "crunched" when squeezed. the thing just couldn't wait to fall apart. HTC has come a long way for sure.

				 | Sprint usually has one high end phone that does and one that doesn't. This is the one that doesn't. The Samsung Epic 4G has the slide out keyboard. Just came out a few days back. |

Go to 5:15 In referencing how many devices can use each of the respective phones as a mobile hotspot, he notes that the Epic can support 5 devices, whereas the EVO can support 8 devices. Coincidentally, the Epic happens to have a 5MP rear camera, and the EVO has an 8MP rear camera. He proceeds to explain that the reason for the 5 and 8 device mobile hotspot limit on each phone "has something to do with how many megapixels it has". I was thinking this whole time that this guy is definitely not cut out to be in front of a camera, based on the fact that he's tripping on his words, and constantly fidgeting with the phones, but after hearing that I'm pretty convinced that he's a moron. Did I miss something here?

				 | Looks great, but curious to know with the Epic if are you able to sync your Outlook contacts and calendars directly via the USB connection? On a previous Samsung phone, it forced you to sync this information up to Google and then back down to your phone from Google. |

				 | Most iPhone power users probably paid a fair amount of money for the apps on their iPhones. While Android smartphones have even more functionality including Flash and free versions of most similar apps that the iPhone has. I haven't paid for one Android app. |

				 | Good question. I use HTC Sync to syncchronize my Evo calendar & contacts through USB so I do not have to put all my data on the Google cloud. Samsung has an app called Samsung Kies that is supposed to serve a similar purpose, although I am not positive if it works with the Epic or how well. |

I felt the exact same way about the physical keyboard. But, to my great astonishment, I'm already typing faster on this virtual keyboard! The whole reason I was looking at the Epic was for the keyboard, but now I'm thrilled that I sucked it up and got used to the virtual one - within 24 hours.
