ICANN posts .xxx draft agreement for public comment

ICANN posted the .xxx draft agreement with ICM Registry today at:

http://www.icann.org/en/announcement...24aug10-en.htm

for public comments. Comments can be submitted to [email protected] (they'll send you an email with a link to click, to validate your comment, as an anti-spam measure). All the comments can be seen at:

http://forum.icann.org/lists/xxx-revised-icm-agreement/

and I was first to comment with 4 reasons to oppose the draft agreement at:

http://forum.icann.org/lists/xxx-rev.../msg00000.html

I guess the "fun" can now begin, as both sides lobby the relevant governments through the GAC (Government Advisory Committee, see http://gac.icann.org/ ) or US Department of Commerce and NTIA.

DotXXXOpposition.com

Don't forget to visit http://dotxxxopposition.com for news and views (and a fabulous video) about why .XXX is fucked up in a not sexy fun way.

For those who can't remember DotXXXOpposition.com (like me, sometimes) you can also visit OpposeDotXXX.com.

Follow us at twitter.com/opposedotxxx

Please get involved and let ICANN know that we don't need Stuart Lawley controlling an sTLD at our expense both professionally and economically.

Go try to find a $60 price cap in the contracts -- I couldn't. See the comment I submitted....this debate happened before, when .biz, .info and .org tried to eliminate their own price caps (the public outcry compelled ICANN to reinstate price caps). However, the registry operators repeatedly try to get those consumer protections removed from the contracts.

If there are no price caps, it means they can charge anything, and also change the price for renewals. So, if you started to get a lot of traffic and make a lot of money on yourbrandnewdomain.xxx, they could demand more money for the renewal.

curious that they are keeping this confidential. I wonder who would be damaged if it became known that they were members of the board or a part of the policy council for this company

can someone explain this to me?
Quote:
F. Consent to Monitoring
All registrants in the sTLD must agree to permit automated monitoring of their sites for compliance
with IFFOR policies, including without limitation, IFFOR policies requiring site labeling, prohibiting
child pornography, and prohibiting content or conduct designed to suggest the presence of child
pornography. Registrants must agree not to employ technological or other means to defeat or prevent
such monitoring.
I am curious how they will use automated monitoring. I have no problem with being checked for 2257 compliance and consider it a very necessary standard to be held to.... but I would like to know how they can monitor it and what a business would be agreeing to with this

Not only that, but I can see these greedy fucks at the ASACP charging for those stupid RTA tags they give away for free. If anyone thinks these people are your friends, you better wake up.

i would suspect that this is where the adult industry peters out. not half of the people who posted comments before will do it again. stuart will use that as support of the sponsored community and win this last round, thus approving .xxx

i see no one making this comment period a priority. we know that xbiz won't, but avn should be taking this to the front cover of their magazine. every program should be mailing this to their affiliates. everyone should be double and triple starting new threads for awareness. people need to pick the ball up and run. if icann does not see some strong opposition in these comments this time around, lawley will win.

The problem is most people are complacent and think this will just go away and it won't. ICM, ASACP and the asshole lawley all stand to gain millions of dollars if this scam .xxx gets through.

I am working on flyer's exposing the scum behind .xxx at this moment and will be placing them on autos at as many churches as I can in phoenix this weekend and I will be hitting shopping centers...anything to get parents attention that now their kids will get all the free porn they want.

You can bet I will be mentioning the names involved with trying to push this through, you and I know who they are and they do to.

Since there are two active threads on this issue, it's probably best to keep only one of them active. Don't post here, but post instead at:

https://gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/983915-icann-publishes-draft-agreement-xxx-fsc-comments.html

(sorry for the bump!)

(or perhaps a moderator could simply merge the two threads?)
