I bought Hulu Plus

Just under $10 a month. Pretty cool actually, quite the archive of TV shows available and a lot of the older stuff has no commercials. The new stuff still has commercials, but they are short and don't get too annoying.

The one thing I really like is that it offers the ability to stream to your TV. So instead of watching garbage on cable that you don't like, you can at least flip on the Hulu Plus and watch a show that you enjoy or want to see. The streaming abilities still seems pretty limited, there is one Samsung TV, 3D BluRay player, and PS3. I ordered the 3D BluRay player the other day and it should arrive today. In the middle of a move right now so probably will not have it set up until next week, but when I do I will report back.

Right now I'm watching Law & Order: SVU from the start. Next I will check out the recent season of Lost and 24, Hulu+ already saved me from needing to buy those seasons.

So wait, it includes all the episodes of all the shows, not just the ones "currently available for streaming?" That actually doesn't sound like a bad deal.

i picked up a roku player when i ordered my new big led and a smaller lcd for the bedroom (plus sound system, bluray player, mounting brackets, yada yada) for my new place. still not all set up, but anyway, the roku allows you to stream over 20,000 movies and tv shows from netflix for 8.99/month. if you are in the US, 60K+ on demand from amazon.com (sucks we don't get it in Canada).

Right. Not every show has all past episodes, but a lot of them do. Lost, 24, Law and Order, Family Guy... lots of others, full series. Everything.

I do Amazon on Demand a lot actually. It gets expensive though, two dollars for every episode. I think these set-top boxes might just be a segue into à la carte TV, that wouldn't be too bad. Most of the new TVs and players all have Internet connectivity now, you can download all sorts of apps. In five years even more people will have broadband Internet (or maybe even something better) plus Internet connected TVs or devices, cable/satellite TV could be an afterthought.

Please let us know. I signed up for Direct TV a couple months back and I swear half the channels are paid programming/advertisements or pay per view movies.

agreed. everything is wifi now. the tv's, the blurays, hell even my soundbar system has wifi. my *fridge* has wifi (not currently using it though). i think cable will definitely diminish further.

i bought hulu+ just for chuck as i missed just the season finale and since all nbc shows are on there, i figured it would be cool.
Yea chuck is not a show on hulu+. in fact when i started looking around for the shows i typically watch on hulu, none of them were on hulu+
netflix has way more shows and thats not even their focus.

Netflix doesn't do games. They just provide the software for you to stream movies to your Wii.

It would be awesome if they did do video game rentals though.
