What is your EXIT STRATEGY?

Back when I used to work for a venture capital/incubator firm before the first Dot Bust, we asked this question a lot to entrepreneurs our firm wanted to fund. Given the challenges and opportunities currently facing the industry and digital media in general, maybe it's a good time to ask the question again. What is your exit strategy for your business?

Someone else will answer. The play has to have more than 2 people.

I don't have one, nor need one. No plans to ever retire. I like working.

I can shoot cheaper than almost anyone, and get more scenes per shoot. This industry could get 10 times worse, and I would still make money with content. As for this economy and the rest, I simply continue to diversify.

Part of it is because I easily get bored doing the same shit day after day, month after month. The other piece is, I have broader ambitions on things I want to do for 'fun' online. I always have a white boards of a half dozen sites and ideas I would like to get to. Some purely fun driven.

I'm not sure "exit strategy" applies to online stuff, as long as you run a tight business that doesn't require too much time to run, you can milk it for years and years, you don't need any "exit strategy"...

interesting question but much much more important to vc and private equity people than to bussiness owners and investors in general.

As long as a bussiness is profitable and you're not tired of it you can keep it going "ad eternum". VC and PE on the other hand work in pre-determined cycles of raise money -> invest -> exit - Raise money ->... Very different dynamic.

My exitstrategy will be taking our content script www.classycontent.com and turn it in to www.OneContentPlace.com meaning we would be brokering main stream content as well. including booming 3d content. )

No exit strategy here, only growth stragegy.

I did start an offline business 2.5 years ago though just to diversify further a bit.

I think if you keep your eyes open and dont always just do 1 thing then you'll be fine.

My death is my exit strategy. I'm hoping not to be implementing that strategy for a long time.

If you have an exit strategy you shouldnt be doing this in the first place, its WAY too dynamic.

Let my wife work... sounds good to me. I have some mainstream products, that get sold in stores, trade shows, etc.. I would just do that if I had no choice.

Retirement, I don't plan to retire or care to retire, I freakin love to make money. If I did quit working though, I would play golf...but I'll still be working that hustle on the course either way.

Exit strategy? For what?

My sales are up. June was down, July was huge. This month I'm up 30% over July, so I don't need a fucking exit strategy.

Our industry is hurting just like everyone else. But there is still good money to be made.
