There has to be atleast 10k new sales day that have "moved" aorund since the closure of some really big PPS programs.

Where did the sales go?
I think some programs are sitting quiet with a ton of new traffic and sales. Good job if its you ..

Those sales were MADE by enterprising sales people. They were not wandering around waiting to be claimed by some random program. Sales are a product that has to be produced, if not produced, they do not exist.

They closed the program. Not the sites. Why would they? They obviously are looking at numbers in their program that we aren't privvy to and decided that affiliates aren't profitable for them anymore.

I can see in our program that 2 years ago affiliates sent 80% of sales. Now they send about 10% and have no traffic. Everybody surfs pornhub these days in case you haven't checked alexa lately.

So no traffic, no new sales from them, and still paying out millions of dollars in rebills just stopped making sense to those companies.

You'd probably do the exact same thing in their shoes if it were your company. It happens all the time in the "real" world. Job losses happen all the time, especially in the current economy.

I have a feeling that lots more affiliate programs are gonna be shutting down soon. Sucks because I promote over 400 of them. And all of it is revshare for me.

I think you missed my point. I am talking about the sales that were generated by big affiliates. IE the big PPC guys, the mailers, the chat spammers, the media buyers.

The affiliates that were sending the traffic to the big PPS programs stopped sending the traffic because the programs closed and the $100 PPS gravy train crashed.

So what did those affiliates do with the traffic? They either left the biz altogether, sold off their traffic sources to newbs who don't know how to generate the sales they did, or just didn't feel that revshare was worth their short-term efforts so fuck it.

Maybe they're all selling Snuggies now?

WEG Cash was doing a shitload of volume in x-sells per day. I didn't promote them because they fucked over a friend of mine on a x-sell deal. I'm glad now I didn't. But a lot of folks did.

10,000 sales a day? 1,000 a day? If a program can not keep afloat on 100 no, even 10 sales a day then they are doing something horribly wrong.

maybe the overall number of sales went down with access to free stuff more prevalent.

but alot of new programs have taken the place of old ones. if you you look at ex-gf and tranny these niches were not around (or were very small a while back), if whole niches changes the same will happen with programs for sure.

Personally many sales of less is better than a cpl of more... Whats wrong with $25 a sale if your getting 5 or 10 a day?

You realize how much money 1000 sales a day means right?

Think about it... In no way did the programs that shutdown recently have anywhere CLOsE to 10k non x-sales a day... 10k sales a day at a retention of 2.5 months at only 20 a month would be 365*10000*50 = 182.5m a year in revenue... These programs did not even have 10% of that revenue...

I agree completely. While I also understand how an affiliate - who works their arse off, without any promise or gaurantee of a return on their sweat equity - would naturally gravitate towards the biggest pay day possible. Same effort, same traffic, why not go for the $100PPS and up sponsers? makes sense - but also inadvertantly feeds how the Industry got to where its' at.

So it's also the law of Contrast for many affiliates (I would imagine): "I was making $100 a pop, now I gotta make $30 a pop...same effort, same traffic = less moolah."

MY question is: so have those kind of affiliates, with that type of attitude, just taken up their tents and gone elsewhere? "That's IT! If i can't get $100 per sale then FUCK YOU ALL and I'm gonna go try email marketing..."

If you do think that. Do you think they were being sent by affiliates who would redirect the traffic flow once the affiliate program closed?

It goes no where, because it no longer exists. Sure some of your keywords get more accessible to your competitors but now they are producing traffic, not you.
