It seems like it is really hard to even book a designer who does professional high quality design. They are booked out for at least 6 months. But they do work for big companies and deliver excellent results.

You can look at their portfolios for inspiration of what you wish you could have;p

ok maybe i was just exaggerating a little. I didn't mean I wanted to hire a design company that does design for fortune 500 companies... ( i don't think many, if anyone here does that anyway). I want to hire someone who can do good quality design for mainstream sites that is on the level (or close to) a very professionally done looking site.

Oh I don't mean fortune 500 companies. I'm just talking from my own personal experience of looking for designers, which design companies are even taking on projects, working with my budget, and then seeing who I can hire based on that.

I'm not sure what you need done, but I never need anything too complicated. So I've just decided to learn how to design and code my own projects. Because I can't hire the designers that are the right fit for my aesthetic. Those designers are usually booked for the next 12 months and I've never seen their quotes, but I can just imagine the cost!

Where are you looking. You could get tons of designers on here to do work for you today, that do decent work for a good price. It might take them a week or so to do the work, but not to start it.

Of course I am trying to get something cheap. Why? because I don't want to pay more than I need to regardless of how much money I have.

In today's economy I know I can find a quality designer for $1,000 - $2,000 range to do a professional looking site for me, not canned template or amateur looking shit. I just need site design, going to do a $500 logo tournament to get the logo done. Oh well, I though I would offer it to GFY designers first but you guys rather argue and speculate how much money I have instead.

I don't think logo tournament is going to do a fortune 500 design for you for less than fortune 500 prices either. They'll do what they get paid to do. Standard logo for a standard client.

Oh I'm not looking anymore, I've learned my lesson. I'm not going to find a designer who will be able to do the job for $1000 - $2000 quickly and without a lot of back and forth.

Maybe you would have more success if you were in the same room as the designer. But you know you have a problem when you end up having to pay for a finished project that includes PSD files with several spelling errors, grammar errors, and sentences that don't even sell the niche that you are trying to target with your site.

If a designer expects you to pay $1000 + and then correct their PSD files, then there is a serious problem with the way that designer works.

Their clients include Coke, 20th Century Fox, Foot Locker, Britain, The Olympics, George Lucas, and many more.

Maybe they'll do it for a few hundred bucks.
