60i or 30p

Quick question shooters...

On a sony Ex1 would you use 60i or 30p for indoor video shoot on a small set?

One of my camera guys says 60i and the other says 30p.

I hear 60i is only good if you don't move the camera. Could be wrong.

I shoot for the internet so I shoot 60i. film is traditionally 24p while tv has always been traditionally 30p.. with 24p you will see motion blur if ya yank the camera... same with 30p at times... mainly 24p and 30p is tech weenie crap and is of no real importance for content shoots...

60p will take up roughtly twice as much bandwidth and disk space and twice as much time to render. The results will be better and future proof, but the extra cost may outweigh the benifit.

anything with movement you always shoot in i never p...

I mean p can look good but .. it's a huge debate on weather or not it's "really better"

I have been to over 100 hours of confrences meetings etc etc during nab listening to all sides from experts...

the conclusion .... shoot what looks best to you personally ...

personally I shoot i.. I don't like the choppy look of P..

as for tv's and dvd's etc etc.. all tv's and dvd players convert so many times back and forth within itself from i to p chances are to the untrained eye you will never notice specally from a distance of 8ft or more from the tv...

I shoot with ex3's and i shoot 30p. The look is really nice and a bit softer than 60i. 24p is softer than 30p and 60i, but you will get a ghost efect when you pan left to right quickly.

You do need more light when you shoot 30p and even more when you shoot 24p, but the look cannot be matched by 60i.

Interlacing is an issue when shooting 60i that you dont get when shooting 30p.

I have logged in 250+ hours on an ex1 and 400+ hours on an ex3. I have 10 different custom color preset settings for the many different shoots i do and in all, 30p and 24p are my choice preferences.

60i is fine if you dont have 30p.
