PITTSBURGH ? Right Ascension Inc., which does business as Adult DVD Empire, has been charged with violating obscenity laws.

D'oh. This will be interesting to see how this one plays out as cities/states have individual rules on what can be shipped to them. Some places don't allow porn to be shipped there at all - I think Tennessee is one.

Possibly -- but if it is true that ADE started returning BSDM stock to production houses six months ago, my hunch is that this deal had pretty well taken shape long before the Stagliano trial had even begun.

sounds like open season to me. if they are being charged with sending "obscene" material to Erie,PA then couldn't they be charged with sending any material considered obscene to any location?

those titles sounded like hardcore bondage/light torture type titles so there has been a case made for this kind of material being obscene already.

its slightly confusing but it seems like any phyical distributor could get popped for sending a video deemed obscene thru the mail, and they are starting to get more aggressive about prosecution.

Local and state have rules for SHIPPING porn. For example, we cannot ship Pink Visual DVDs to a distributor or retailer in the state of Tennessee, just one of those locations that has the no porn shipping rule.

Then many states have what they consider obscene going through the mail. We have a list of zip codes we aren't allowed and DO NOT send to. Legal keeps us updated frequently to any additions or removals from the list.
